How can you distinguish a top 5?

When someone posts a song, inevitably people respond with "definitely in my top 5." I'm not saying that a given song isn't in those people's top 5's, but for me, I could never narrow a list to 5 or even 10.

how do you put dissident ahead or behind betterman, or Go ahead or behind Evenflow, or Down ahead or behind nothingman, evolution, jeremy, nothing as it seems, soldier of love, black, yellow ledbetter, last exit, lukin, on and on and on...

They all kick ass for their own reasons, ya know.

I could never narrow a list to 5, 10, probly not even 25.

For me, I love all of their music, but there are some songs I like better than others. It's just personal preference. Seeing as how I listen to PJ all the time, I think about where I would place songs.

I don't know a vast amount of PJ songs, but my favorite is definitely Black. I guess I'd have to put Elderly Woman... and Alive up there too. PJ isn't my favorite band though. Led is my top; and Fool in the Rain is my favorite song. However, I do think PJ is probably the top band in the last ten years.

  • I always find that my favourite songs are constantly changing.

Right now i'm really into Nothing as it Seems, I am mine and Sleight of Hand. But i tend to go through phases of just listening to one album, or a few tracks. i love it when you re-discover songs.

  • I have a new top 5 every week. Too many great songs to choose from to make a list.
And after all this, won't you give me a smile?

    Hi.

It seems that with me it's slightly different.

Do The Evolution is my favorite. Not musically only, but Idiologically also. Those who know me know that i'm a great fond of these things and it kinda amuses me. I agree with every bit of the video clip, except for the predictions for the future, and with every word of this song. I find that Vedder's words are damn straight, lack any self delusion, that we humans are alright. We're not, in my opinion. I sure hope that end won't be as it seems in the video clip, but so far we keep on doing what this video says. Now, I don't want to start an argument, because I might step on a lot of toes, if haven't already, and what I said above is nothing but my own opinion. To me it sounds true cuz it's my opinion, but I'm not saying that it's objectivly true, since A) I might be wrong
    B) Reality has a lot of faces...

All i'm saying here that I agree with the video clip. Nothing more. After all, we all have our own opinions.

Furthermore, Do The Evolution has nice music and Vedder's screamings are extremely good on some parts, like on the part when the computer gets that dude in the office (third verse)...

After Do The Evolution I like best Jeremy. After Jeremy I can't really decide... :)

    Just my opinions.

    That's all.

    Cheers

do the evolution is a great song.but my girlfriend insists that the guitar riff when eddie sings " admire me,admire my home... is a rip off of the michael jackson song beat it.

i dont agree but does anyone else think this.

    i hope not.

rearview mirror now thats a tune.

especially the version recorded at melbourne in 1998(hard dazzle bootleg).

Whooo!! Someone that loves In Hiding too!!!

Hm, yeah i'd say it's way to hard for me to make a top 5 or 10 or whatever. There's not a single pearl Jam song I don't love. Including the weird ones! I'm a Bugs fan

i had a friend who couldnt put his fingure on which MJ song he thought it was, i hear beat it in there so i can see where your girlfriend is coming from, but the more i listen to it the less i think it so... anyhow, as for the Top 5 or 10 thing, for me its more retorical, obviously i can not narrow it down to five or ten songs, and with the list changing pretty much hourly every song has had the opportunity to be in my top five or ten. with that being said its sort of a way to praise a songs greatness rather than saying "that song is really good" you can say "thas my favorite song" which is most likely a lie, or "yea, i'd put that in my top ten..."
    peace

I dont know how people do it, but they sure do it all the time.
Even I have my own list of TOP 5s. They dont change too often, but sometimes, depending on how you are feeling, your response to a particular song changes.
I used to kinda dislike Yellow Ledbetter. But one day, I was in a very dazed mood, and have absolutely loved that song ever since.

  • On the topic of top fives, anyone like the film High Fidelity?? - constant list making and analysing etc.
I think it seems relevant to mention it.
