    I've been listening to the commentary on this from mainly older Australians (some friends and my parents too), and the majority of older commentary is negative about the kids. 

    Yes, I'm sure there was a fair portion of the kids who didn't fully understand climate control debate and/or  who attended either for time off school or other reason's, but shouldn't a country want their youth engaged in social and political dicusssion? The comment for our current Prime Minister (for how long??) and other pollies were exactly why youth doesn't engage. It was dismissive of their opinions and down right patronising.

    It's time the politicians elected to represent the people of this country, start representing ALL of them

    absolutely agree with you.. these kids can and do make changes at home and encourage parents. Sometimes we need to take a little advice from them and what they can bring to the table. I was appalled at the response from dickhead scott morrison, kids are not there to be seen and not heard. Even if its protesting climate change as far as im concerned its all learning and experience. I see the "stop Adani" signs in amongst them they have got a clue somewhat. If that coal mine goes ahead there go the most fertile black soil plains in the southern hemisphere. I grew up there.

    You are saying some people suck, some don't...age has no bearing...
    some suck some dont but like anything if you're talking about it get stuck in your conscience. Some will make an effort some wont but you have to start somewhere even if its small things at home. Almost p billion on the planet if religion can spread like wildfire than so can common sense!

    I worked in schools for 25 years.  Kids are really good at talking, not really good at taking action.  This isn't me watching the news.  I know first hand.  I am sure there are some schools that do an exceptional job.  But from my experience, it few and far between.
