Dumb question about Pilate

Excuse my extreme naivetee...and my bad spelling...what does it mean "Like Pilate"? I get the song, except that line and I feel silly for asking. I think it's a great song about spending time with a dog & reflecting on life.....Correct me if I am wrong.

  • the only thing i ever came up with is that it's referring to the bible...Pontious Pilate was the one who decided Jesus shouold be crucified....i think. so ed is relating himself to someone who was evil enough to crucify a person, Jesus of all people. (like Pilate, he has a dog)
  • i was wondering the same thing but the above post tells alot and makes sense. thanks for both pieces of info

  • Didn't Jeff write the song about a book he read and a character named Pilate in it? I heard that somewhere. I could have been stoned out of my mind and hallucinating at the time, though, so take it worth a grain of salt.
I'm not too concerned with PJ20, because I celebrate the band's existence every year.

Someone else was asking the same question as I and a response came back that it came from a book Jeff read called The Master & Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov. The post is in the Porch to get the details about it.
