I've got these songs sorted out, they are also arranged in the following order. Before i start the process of making it into a disc, i'll like to know what u guys and gals think about it?

It's for someone special, so here goes:

1-16

Low light
Faithful
Off he goes
Daughter
Down
Elder woman...
In hiding
Around the bend
Light Years
Nothing as it seems
Smile
Strangest Vibe
Indifference
Last Kiss
Thumbing My Way
All or none

I know putting last kiss in is kinda wierd...but it's the ONLY pj song she knows and she likes it so wth...other than that, i have no clue how this mix will "flow". Any input much appreciated! :)

(this is my first mix project btw!)
If you do go disturbing the man, you will doubtless be disappointed. The man once known as Syd Barrett is now a bald, stout painter who has nothing at all to do with the 60s pop star, does not want to be reminded of the past, and will have nothing to say.

Pretty nice list you got there. Looks like it'd be a sweet mellow CD. My suggestion is before you burn it onto a CD is (unless you haven't already ripped your CDs to your computer; if not I suggest doing so) make a playlist with those songs in that order and listen to it to see how it flows. You can switch around anything that would sound better in a different spot on the mix CD. I personally would put Indifference last though. Also, what about Black and Immortality and You Are and LBC?

I would Betterman and/or Given to Fly on there. Other than that I think it is perfect.

Sorry for the late reply...i just got back from work. phew.

Yes, as alot of you have guess...theres more mellow, slower tracks than "heavy" ones. That is the goal really, because i know...haha. But i didn't wanna add too many mellow ones and forget the more "up tempo" ones- simply so i can add some kind of variety and not make the whole mix sound repetitive.

Just so you know, i alread have the tracks playing in a playlist in the order stated above. I would consider putting indifference last...i must say the idea has crossed my mind.

16 songs is the max...1 hr 6 mins (~70 mins)...To be honest i'm not too eager adding more as you can see. Maybe what i can do is remove and add some of these suggestions?

I've been able to get 79:54 on a mix CD before. I would jam pack it with everything you can! You could get two or three more songs in there if you wanted to. Maybe Tremor Christ would be a good addition if you don't wanna keep it too mellow, but not too heavy :)

Yup...add...remove..didn't know making a mix can be this...uh fun :P

As it stands the list looks something like this:

    1-16

    Low light
    Faithful
    Off he goes
    Daughter
    Down
    Elderly woman...
    In hiding
    Around the bend
    Light Years
    Nothing as it seems
    Smile
    Strangest Tribe
    All or none
    Last Kiss
    Thumbing My Way
    Indifference

For the purpose of adding tracks, i think i have about 10 mins max to hit full capacity. It was recommeneded strangest tribe be left out, and i'm thinking of adding State of love and Trust in to replace that. Hmm.....

    Hmmm...
    Release
    Hard To Imagine
    Garden
sounds pretty dark over your way...but I do like your picks.

Personally I would start with "the experiment" and add on...;)

  • Where's Present Tense? In my opinion that song is impossible to listen to and not become hooked on everything Pearl Jam has to offer...plus it goes with the flow of this mix, I think. I've never met someone who heard that song and didn't LOVE it...that's my plug for PT

If you'd like to add a song that is short but haunting... "Fatal" from the Benyoro hall is an AMAZING rendition...

"If he's truly out of sight.... Is he truly out of mind...."

    PURE UNADULTERATED MAGIC.

Another short one that is beautifully written and sounds great is "untitled" from the Live on Two Legs disc... in fact with just 10 minutes left you could EASILY fit the two above songs.

If you were thinking about adding SOLAT... I really quite like the Gorge 2005 version but the original is great as well.

    Cheers,

    hi people~

Thanks to the recommendations i have the following pretty much set in stone...

This is gonna be the interesting bit:- it's 1 disc but i have 18 songs divided into TWO sides.

    Side 1 (1-9)
    Off he goes
    Faithful
    In Hiding
    Down
    Daughter
    Around the bend
    Light years
    Nothing as it seems
    All or none

    Side 2 (10-18)
    Low light
    Smile
    Betterman
    Fatal
    Black

Is the goal for her to like Pearl Jam or is the goal for her to like you? As said in a manner of speaking in "High Fidelity" you are using another person's words to express your feelings and this is a delicate thing. Now, if you want her to like Pearl Jam I would add Dirty Frank and Alone, Sad, Education etc, but if you want her to like you, the mellow stuff's probably better.

I may be inputting too much, but does the disc have to be all Pearl Jam. If you add another artist every 4-5 songs, it may keep her attention a little more, and it may be so spicy she'd think you were a hot tamale.

Looks perfect to me. Though I don't see how SOLAT fits with the playlist... By the way, its missing my favorite PJ song Blood ;) just kidding.
