Is really a great song! Has it all...great lyrics, marshall drum beat, anthemic, great guitar and yet it never reached the heights it deserved...reminds me very much of Slip Kid by the Who another great song that never achieved the greatness it deserved! What say you amirite or just being a PJ &Who homer?

I’ve always loved I Am Mine and thought that the end of it would make for a great extended solo but sadly PJ chooses to play the song exactly as on the record.
And he still gives his love,
    he just gives it away...

Absolutely agree as you said it's all set-up at the end for Mike to soar and that would be the reason for me that's it's still a great song but, not a classic.

I absolutely love this song.  One of the best moments of live at the garden was when Ed dedicated that song to the people who died in 9/11.

Remember when it came out and was labeled "Veckans Hitvarning (This weeks warning of being a huge hit)" on the Swedish equivalence of MTV. The video was played like once every commercial break.

I thought it was the greatest song ever and would be GIGANTIC. I guess it was semi-successful(?) and I love it. 5 our of 5 songs.

One of my memories from this message board that for some reason I have always remembered is someone dissing Mikes solo saying it was the worst PJ solo ever. I always think of that post every time Mikes solo starts. Don't know what that poster really meant, but for some reasons I can't forget it.

It’s probably my favorite PJ song.  Top-5 for sure. Admittedly it is the catchy pop hook that does it for me.  Also “I know I was born and I know that I’ll die; the in between is mine.” Is a terrific lyric.  I don’t need it at every show but I’m glad it hasn’t been forgotten about.

Such a great song and some of my favorite lyrics.   I haven't seen very many shows but have gotten the song a couple times.  I miss the days of well written lyrics.

Great lyrics. I used this song when I had my kids studying poetry. :-)

Edit to add: Whenever I see a pic of The Who By Numbers, I remember how when I was little I connected the dots and colored in the instruments. =)

Great song on a lyrically and instrumentally amazing album. Ed's lyrics peaked between the Binaural and Riot Act period. Love all of the music they made during that time.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Love this song!  But I'm not hearing the connection to Slip Kid, another great song but the Who have rarely played it live.  Funny enough, I heard Slip Kid on public radio a few days ago.

I'm not saying they sound like each other just pointing out their both criminally underrated and both should've been bigger then what they actually are in respect to each band.

OK, now I understand what you're saying.  Definitely both great songs and unfortunately overlooked in their band's catalogs.

Remember on a show where you gave new music videos/songs thumbs up or down the singer from Mando Diao hated it. And I've hated Mando Diao and him since then.

Great song, one of my favourites, but I have to say this one line makes me wince. It sounds like teenage girl angst poetry.
