    i interpret it as a song about the little angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other

    its about a decision to take the right path or to take the other, sometimes more enticing and exciting path. the one that draws u in. like eating a chocolate bar instead of an apple, if u know what i mean. i know i shouldnt eat it cos me teeth will hurt, but mmmmmmmm it tastes so good ;)

    I love this song so much, has to be one of their best.
    I think it's pretty much about a guy moving on from an old relationship. Many people disagree but its IMO and thats how I interpret it.

    --to me this seems like a guy that's watching a bad situation happen, someone is breaking his heart and that's what's bloodied on the shore

    --he cherish's this beautiful girl, and something that's happened (i think she was unfaithful) is killing him inside

    Little secrets, tremors.....turned to quake

    --he's been hearing rumors and shit, and then realizes that it's not just rumors, it's fact....what to do what to do

    Ransom paid the devil....he whispers pleasing words...
    Triumphant are the angels if they can.... get there first...

    --he doesn't know what to do....he's hearing voices from the devil... possibly contemplating suicide or something else insane.....but if he can just listen to the right voices of angels/god then he'll be ok

    chorus again.......

    --maybe he listened to the angels.. he's going to figure out some other way to deal with this... he's not going to kill himself.... gonna wait for a sign(s) and unfortunately decides to look away and not believe what he truely knows... this will help him get by for now.........

    --he's turning the ship back around, and taking another chance at it......putting his faith and love in Tremor Christ (i think meaning Christ can be a little shakey and hard to figure out)

    Oh MUCH love for this song!!!! Love it with a passion. Definitely one of my favs ever. Ed's voice, those drums, that bass line?! Man, just the whole feel of the song. :o It's seriously one of the most unique sounds to ever come from this band. I can't praise it enough. Looooove TREMOR! :D

    Interpretation? I'm diggin the ones so far.

    My take on the song is kinda similiar to what «¤tîg®ê§§¤» said. I think it's about decisions. I get this imagery in my head everytime I hear this song...I picture a little tiny boat in the middle of a huge, dark, stormy ocean. Makes me think of life, riding through the storm, the struggles, making the "right" choices...realizing how everything you thing you do effects the next.

    I get the message of some things that you may see as trivial, can be a lot bigger than you think. Looking at the big picture, what may seem like a small, simple decision can actually have a HUGE, HUGE impact on everything. The little angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other is a good way of describing it. Also there seems to be some question of fate. Like is everything predetermined, or do I have a choice? Should I try? And by trying how do I know what's right or wrong? It seems like this person has tried to make the right choices and they've backfired. So it gives me this idea that they're feeling like "I guess things just HAVE to be this way or ARE going to be this way regardless of what I do." They seem really tortured by what choices to make and kinda feel hopeless about things. Not having control over anything in life even when they are really making a conscious effort to. I also get a feeling of resentment for a second towards the idea of fate, the idea of not having any control. Then the song takes a turn and I get this whole "taking a chance" feel. Which is kinda what you do in life, ya know? Not knowing for sure how things will turn out, you take a chance in deciding "I'm gonna go this way." "I'LL DECIDE! TAKE THE DIVE." Taking a chance. Believing in the idea that things can change, that YOU can make them change. This person seems so weak and drained though. By the end of the song though it kinda seems like they've given up on trying to make all the "right" choices for themself and instead decide to put faith in the idea that everything is just gonna take care of itself. Something to that effect. ;)




    Anyways, that's what I get from this masterpiece.
