I can think of another good question:
What would 1991 "us" think of 2018 "us" waiting 500 deep in line for hours, relentlessly snatching up multiples of every piece of merch we can to resell on ebay?

You would have been next to me in the beer line.  Laughing at the merch line.

I'd say they'd be amazed and dare I say proud. Now the behavior around the merch? Totally rant worthy stuff.

Things do change over the years.
I once took a photo at a Seattle Seahawks game when the line for coffee was about 4 times longer than the beer line.  I laughed and thought Seahawks fans were weak and lame.
Nowadays, I'm in that coffee line.

Just curious what you think Ed's 1991 comments would be if you told him that his band, in 2018, would be selling:
socks, wristbands, 5 poster versions per show, pins, tote bags, backpacks, and all the other commercialized gear....

Not sure how he'd feel about the overall selection but I bet that he and Jeff would find all of the flippers and kick their ass...

But would 1992 or 1993 or 1994 or 1995 or 1996 or 1997 or 1998 or 1999 or 2000 Ed think???  Surely these Eds matter too?

The last thing I have any problem with for a band is creating merchandise about their band that people seem to want.

    Frankly, give me more Vault!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

His eminence has yet to show.

It would be nice if there were special smokable editions.  Sort of like bible pages.

If you told 91 Ed that instead of selling millions of albums they’d sell thousands I would guess he’d be fine with it

I'd think we should weigh the good over the bad. They're getting there's but rightfully so. They still are throwing a bunch of money towards good causes and this machine is what allows them to do that.

Considering how much money they give to charities and organizations they have developed and work with, I think this entire topic isn't worth debating.

I think we all grow and change as people. It’s not fair to define a person at one stage or point in their life (lives). The band does a lot of good with the resources they have.  So big picture (and maybe at the time never thinking it’d be this 25 or so years later) I’m sure he’d be cool with it. As he evolved into one one of coolest people on the planet IMO.

Well I hope first of all that 2018 Ed tells 1991 Ed how different the industry is and how merch and concerts are the real big ways to get revenue over studio material nowadays

All in all I mean it isn't like 1991 Ed and 2018 Ed are two different people.  Why should a person dictate what they do based on what they would have done with 27 years less life experience and less life knowledge?

I don't think that at all.  It was just a theoretical question.
