Drummers

I would ask who the worst drummer was, but we all know it was Dave. My question is why? -Be creative.

  • I don't think any of the drummers were bad by any means. As far as the worst goes, I'd say it was Jack Irons. He's incredibly talented but his style didn't mesh well with the majority of the pre-Irons catalouge. For example, the way he drummed on songs like State of Love and Trust and Corduroy was once repetitive beat. He never really added any of his unique style or flare to songs outside of No Code and Yield.

Dave A. always seemed to have this certain funkiness to the way he drummed (Even Flow, Rats, Blood). I don't think his style would mesh well with the present day PJ

Forgive me, because I really don't know a great deal about the drums. I just go by the way it sounds.

Dave never wrote anything half as cool as Who You Are, In My Tree or the Red Dot. (Okay... maybe not the red dot.) But Jack was not really used to playing with the band when he did corduroy or SOLAT. -Compare Cameron's Evacuation, which is very similar some Soundgarden songs; to You Are, which pushes the boundaries a bit more.
