When I was 15 months old
     I fell into our pool,
    My cousin, a year older
    stood at the edge.
    Pointing.
Don't know how long I was there.
    six inches from the surface
    almost black in color
My sweater, floating in the ripples
My Aunt jumped into the frigged water
    to save me.
    A miracle.
    The years that followed,
    I often wondered why.

Nicely done Donna, ... and so glad you were rescued!

    I looked to them
    for restriction
    which they handed
    to me wrapped in gold
    and I sat down.
    Then others said
    I could do anything.
    A nervous energy
    I wrapped in wood.

    Look at the stars
    shining above glistening cubicles
full of workers who choose to be
    alone in company
    and ready to succeed
    at something unknown to them
    in grade school.
    There are so many occupations
    beyond lawyer, doctor, teacher, nurse
    why weren't we told about
    meeting planners
    and strategic planners
    and day planners
    in first grade?

    The bark that sparked
    My brains reaction
    Acted on my addiction to
    Soundless silences
    Slipping through the silent days
    Always awaiting the next
    Thud boom or crack
    And ending with a sigh.

    In utero

    Laughter bending my brain
    Where am I
What is that and why so dark
I'm warm. Its wet and I feel safe
Let me out I want to see
    Soon enough I'll be free
    Today is my daddy's birthday
    party
I'll be born in sixteen days.
I remember when, yeah. I swore I knew everything, oh yeah.

  • Very Fun!! Thanks for sharing
  • Oh Christmas tree
    Axed your back
    And sacked your leaves
Make my child jump with glee
    Forgive my need to
    Splay the creed
    Their happiness
    Your life to feed
I remember when, yeah. I swore I knew everything, oh yeah.
  • What a cool thread!  You guys are so good!  Great idea

    The book
    Ended, I cried.
    Why?  Let it go on
And I'll be a happy guy, but
Nothing goes on forever, yet I
Could let this one linger for a year
    Or twenty thousand days
    But no, it ended and
    That's how it goes.
    It goes.

When he was 3, He broke my fish tank
So I bought him a drum set. Just to keep him stationary
.No more Lego Bucket, Tin pale, Or egg crate to sit on
    And no more metal spoons.
I've been his biggest fan throughout the years,
And his hard work has paid off.
It started with his mobile unit almost 30 years ago.
Now he has his foot in the door.
