What are some of your thoughts as to what this is about?

My first thought was that it is about Kurt Cobain.

    i would rather this song with the whole band playing it... i would dig it more...
    So that is how I learned the lesson that everyone is alone. And your eyes must do some raining if you are ever going to grow. But when crying don't help and you can't compose yourself. It is best to compose a poem, an honest longing or simple song of hope.

    I personally don't care that much for Lost Dogs. It tends to sit in its spot on my cd rack and collect dust. I just have too much other PJ stuff that I can listen to and\or watch over and over. Lost Dogs seems to be a compilation of various music ideas they have explored and sounds like it! I think I hear in it a lot of other people's style of music that they tried to capture. I hear Springstein, the Beatles, Beach Boys, etc in it. If you don't have the Live at the Graden dvd, you just have to get it. It's great!
