    right on!

I think it should be all-lottery, no seniority - no fighting, equality.

  • A good show is obviously more important.

BUT the thing with people getting upset over seats is understandable because it's the club's own policy: "Seniority rules. The lower your number, the closer your seats will be to the stage." (For lack of looking up an exact quote.) Obviously I think it's a good & fair policy, and we wouldn't expect such if that's not what we were told we were getting. So of course it's easy to say "be happy wherever you sit" when the mix-ups don't happen to you. Personally, I appreciate what the 10club does for us. Overall, I think they're awesome & go above & beyond. Mistakes happen, no one's perfect, we understand that....but it's still a pisser when it happens, especially to you. Hopefully the rest of the seating will go smoothly for the rest of the shows.

Anyway, I'm just ready for some kickass shows next week already...Bring on Tues! :)

I missed this. That wouldn't cause fighting? Seniority should & hopefully will always rule. (Aside from the lottery thing which was a kickass idea.) Those of us who have been in the club for many, many years should reap some benefits over someone who joined a week ago. I have a good number, if I was smarter when I was younger & joined when I 1st became a fan I'd have a great number...my own fault though, you snooze you lose.

the other question of seniority is what makes someone with a low number any bigger of a fan that somebody with a high number??
    Nothing...
i would prefer all random seating, mixes it up for the band, and gives all fans a chance!
my real preference is GA like in europe!

exactly, I agree with you 100%.

This whole "seniority rules" thing is just silly - - I bet I would have joined in 92..but damn... I was only 5 years old at the time. The fact that I joined the fan club later than the ones who did before me, does not make me a lesser fan. Sure, I respect the people who have been there from the start, but it would be nice if younger fans could get up front too. Thank goodness for GA events.

G-R-E-E-D. Everyone will always want a better seat. If they're in first row they want to be sidestage. If they're sidestage they want to be in Eddie's lap. It never ends.

Eddies lap - well that would be a nice place... :) I still envy that swedish girl who got to the stage with him, he sang yellow ledbetter to her while holding her hand!.. :D

I will tell you the difference between rows:

Row 1-5, you see the show.
Row 6-10, you see the show if you are 5ft 7in or taller.
Row 11-20, you see the show if you are 6ft or taller.
Row 20-start of escalated seating, gooooood luck.
Escalated Seating - lawn...you see the show, but from a distance. Bring Binoculars...oh wait....

I say let the old timers stay up front. They're old, cranky, losing their hearing, and can barely see what's going on. Seriously, them staying in the first rows is the only thing keeping the lawn section from becoming bingo night.

Just being in the building is good enough for me.

The whole ''where are you sitting'' I got so sick of that in 2006. But to some it matters.

Philly 05 I was way the hell in the back. The best show of my life. I saw the floor just move as one to the songs. I was front row at the 06 Boston shows, and they were stellar, through the roof incredible. But seeing that sea of arms move, and hearing Alone and Sad for the first time live was truly amazing.

    The show.

A great show. Lord knows I've sat in nosebleed seats (Albany 06 comes to mind) and seen some jaw-dropping shows. I'd rather have that than great seat, good show.

I also love the excitement of going to get my seats in the raffle era.

been a long time fan. Never joined the fanclub until a few years ago. Never realized you could get better seats through it, many fanclubs don't offer it.

Can understand the senority thing - but really, the same people in the front all the time? The lottery is great, but still... just because you weren't in on the club from the beginning - I consider myself a HUGE fan. Don't go on the whole tour with them - I have 2 small kids & own a business - time & money are tight. Just because they had a credit card in the early 90's & I didn't...

Anyway, my husband said to me on night one "if you don't win the lottery this is probably the closest you'll ever get. that sucks" and it does. I am NOT complaining about my seats, just happy to be there but... Maybe they should but the seats in reverse one tour, putting the high numbers in the front, low in the back. It's annoying hearing people complain about their "bad seats" 20 rows back.

As i see it where you sit can certainly make it a good f'n show! there is definitely a correlation between the two.

Good F'n show... because I don't care how close you are... if the show bites than you're that much closer to the lameness... but I don't think PJ is capable of a lame show... so, in this case you can be anywhere in the venue and still have a rockin' good time.

  • as long as i'm not in the very back i dont care. if i can hear them and see them (at least every once in a while) i'm happy. And I'm surely not gonna sit in a line all day just so i can be in one of the front rows. screw that. i have a life!

I think it very much matters where you sit. not in terms of close/far from the stage like you're implying. but rather in terms of who you're sitting around. I would find it hard to sing at the top of my lungs and head bang if everyone within 5 feet were standing there with their arms crossed. and THAT'S why I love the fanclub seats.

Geez, I REALLY thought the current system would end - or at least severely curtail - the bitching about the seniority rule.

I posted this in another thread and will add it again:

The current system - when it works correctly, which is 99% of the time, I think - is as good as it gets. I very much like the new system because it's a great compromise. It still rewards the old timers like me, but it gives the newer members a shot at great seats.

To the people who say ALL the tickets should be via a lottery: get a life. The seniority system rewards fans who've stuck with PJ forever. Not coincidentally, these are the same people likely to travel to lots of shows. Would I be going to 9 shows this tour if I didn't know my # would get me a great seat? No, so the seniority system is both a nice reward and also a smart sales tactic for the 10C.

Face it: if I didn't know my # guaranteed me good seats, what incentive would there be to be in the club in non-tour years? If it's a lottery for ALL the seats, I'd just drop my membership until I know a tour's coming, and I wouldn't be alone. Changing the seniority seating system would probably kill the 10C due to all the money they'd lose.
