Jeremy - 2nd Article From Newspaper

The day after Jeremy Delle took his life, the Dallas news article appeared which Eddie saw and primarily based the song Jeremy on. That article has been floating on the web for many years. A few minutes ago (Feb. 2, 2005 2:00 am) I posted the other article that dealt with Jeremys suicide that day. It is just below the 1st article on my Jeremy page, about midway down the page. Good read with more student reaction to Jeremys death.

I had heard that this was based on the suicide of a kid here in Teas, but I didn't realize it was just over in Richardson....

All Jeremy really got was the little article, however, that is more than most suicides get. Most of the US Media has a policy about suicide and in most cases both the TV and print news will not cover a suicide (unless a huge celebrity) because they feel doing so will perpetuate suicides. Sad because if they covered suicides, maybe greater focus and dissection of the suicide would occur and we could increase our ability to spot those that are suicidal and be more proactive with intervention. Losing someone to suicide is so much different from any other way of losing someone because of the guilt usually associated. And the power of Jeremy's story is pretty phenomenol. I've delved into it deeper and continue to - some of the information left me really depressed. As more information comes in I will continue to update the page link listed at the start of this thread.
