Pastries and Baseball

Not a surprise that the pastries aren't out,
and the moon-lit humidity makes all
delayed to the point when I want to shout
"Enough Summer Already!" "Heed this Call!"

Tomorrow at the minor league baseball
game I'll forget this man with pastry bins
walking through the door and into my small
sugar fantasy still unknown to him.

I'll attend the baseball game with my twin
and our best friend of forty years. Precious
time allotted to discussing children
as one team will experience a loss.

This yearly game is better than pastry,
but until tomorrow it's time to eat.
There is no such thing as leftover pizza. There is now pizza and later pizza. - anonymous
