So that is how I learned the lesson that everyone is alone. And your eyes must do some raining if you are ever going to grow. But when crying don't help and you can't compose yourself. It is best to compose a poem, an honest longing or simple song of hope.
    That is why I'm singing
  • only one: Indifference
"This is a public service annowncement... with guitars!!"
  • Only one.......Nothingman.

"I'll do whatever the song dictates - if it doesn't need a real lead, then I won't do one. But if it does, then I'll fuckin' go off." - Mike

"Japan is awesome; the fans there knew all the words to all the songs...at least phonetically." - Stone

"I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version." - EV
  • I've never actually cries, but i think that Light Years, I got Shit, and Sad, are the ones that make me really down, the ones with personal meaning...

should i eat them? raw, or well done?
  • About a 5 days ago, i had to say goodbye to the most important person in my life, and as i lay next to her (we was listening to RVM disc 2) Last Kiss came on, usually i don't really care for the song, and fail to see the real meaning behind it, but as it came on and we were lying in silence, it came to these lines:
"Something warm rollin' through my eyes
But somehow I found my baby that night
I lifted her head, she looked at me and said
"Hold me darling just a little while."
I held her close, I kissed her our last kiss
I found the love that I knew I would miss
But now she's gone, even though I hold her tight
I lost my love, my life that night."
I froze and all the hairs stood up on my arm, and i nearly burst into tears at that very moment...

Oooh wow, can't forget that one!! Makes the PJ cry baby come out FOR SURE. Definitely goes down under the "Happy/It's gonna be alright tears...." :) Such an amazing cover. What the boys added to this one is beyond words and I feel it every damn time.

  • the 9/11 tribute of long road was pretty emotional

I watched that the night it was aired, and just about lost it. So freakin beautiful...one of my favorite PJ songs ever, and maybe the best I've heard it played...

    Some others:
'I'm Still Here' (c'mon why do you think I chose the s/n?)
    'Parting Ways'
the 1st time I heard 'Black' played w/keyboards in concert
'Yellow Ledbetter' (mostly the guitar...Mike kills me everytime)
    'Fatal'
    'Angel'
Ed's Royce Hall show from '02
    'Trouble' (a Cat Stevens cover)
    'I Got Shit'
'Man of the Hour' (was @ the theater watching Big Fish first time I heard it)
    and 'Footsteps' of course.
    etc.,etc.,etc.
    PJ: Toledo-9/22/96. E. Lansing-8/18/98. Detroit-8/23/98. Detroit-10/7/00. Detroit-6/25 & 6/26/03. Toledo-10/2/04 [VFC]. Detroit-5/22/06. Chicago-8/5/07 [Lolla]. Cleveland-5/9/10. Baltimore-10/27/13.

Ahhh yes, another 2 that must be on my list as well. Especially the Parting Ways from 7 Worlds Collide with Neil Finn. :o Wow. Chills and tears for sure. Speaking of 7 Worlds Collide, not really a Pearl Jam song but Ed's version of Stuff and Nonsense on there seriously rips my heart out. Talk about tears.

Aww and Angel. What a gorgeous song. This part always makes me tear up...

"Mind is not a celestial state with idle hymns of praise
Time is short I have an appointment at noon at noon in Hell
Across the waste of space and fields of air I glide alone at night
Oh please please think of me 'cause I'm I'm by your side
I'm by your side I'm by your side oh
I'm I'm right in front of you I'm by your side"

    Gorgeous!

Yes, lots of excellent lists going on here. I feel it too. :)

Some of the most beautiful lyrics ever written...and Ed sings the f-ck out of it until it just grabs your heart and stomps it to death.
