  • Nothingman.....this song leaves me in tears sometimes. I swear it was written with me in mind. It's such a powerful song, and Eddie's voice is just specatacular. I don't think i've ever heard a bad version of this live. State College in particular is a great version.
"This town deserves a better class of criminal... and I'm gonna give it to them."

  • Thank you for those words, those were very nice,
I cry all the time when I listen to that song.
    Thanks for your reply
  • nothingman is one of my favorites at the moment, it was the first PJ song that made me cry....i remember it perfectly. i was driving down a country road and listening to vitalogy, for the first time ever. it was pretty much my first PROPER encounter of PJ, although i'd heard them alot before then....but that was different. and the song came on and i was fixed to it, and i replayed it and read through the words, and just cried....silently, with big fat wet tears, beautiful moment, i always can picture the country side and the fields when i hear the song now....

    hmmmm....such a good song :)
  • caught a bolt of lightning, cursed they day he let it go....

  • Just wanted to post again coz' i'm listening to the MSG 2 version and it's blowing me away. It's one of PJ's most beautiful songs, and Eddie's voice just soars above us all, through the heavens.

This song is awesome, one of the first that got me into PJ. It's the most touching song, including Black but I love Vitalogy and I love this song!

    Hi Annabella,
That song means so much to me that I have the line"He who forgets, will be destined to remember." tattooed on my right forearm (in Chinese, so it would be a little more stylish).I work with the public and when I hand people their change, many, many of them ask what it means. I tell them and they will say something like " Oh, that's pretty deep - is that Confucius?". And I just smile and say "Nope- Vedder." : )
It's an awesome song and folks that just don't get into the band are really missing out on some timeless gems! That's what I think, anyway!!

i'm listening to nothingman right now, and i just saw this thread...
it's a powerful song, i esp like the part:

    oh, she don't want him...
oh, she won't feed him...after he's flown away...
oh, into the sun...ah, into the sun...
    burn...burn...

i like the way eddie sings it, so moving, so emotional...
... but it never actually made me cry, it made me scream
    Pearl Jam pieces...

This is how I saw it one day: Insignificance at the Porch of Mankind
