Fenway - What time will PJ hit the stage?

I am taking my son to his first PJ Show - Fenway Night 1.  We are travelling up from NYC and I was curious what time PJ will start playing.

  • That is awesome and I hope that you have a great time.  Not sure officially, but I want to say 7:30pm would be the earliest, but don't quote me.

This was roughly what they did in 2016 though I hope they start earlier this year.

    Between 7 and 7:30.

  • Early.

Fenway has an earlier curfew of 10:30, so they should be on by 7:30 at the latest. I hope it’s more like 7.

N1 ‘16 they had to wait a bit to go on because people couldn’t seem to read their tickets and were taking their sweet time getting inside. Traffic and parking are bad so plan on leaving a lot earlier than you think.
  • also, for you out-of-towners, I would not park near the stadium.  Park far away or use public transportation.  In addition, there are plenty of "bicycle cabbies" where you hop on a carriage and the bike rider will get you to the stadium if you have trouble walking.  There's plenty of those around Berkley college.

I purchased parking near Fenway on boyLston st. I was juswondering why you suggest otherwise.

Back in 2016, I parked in the underground parking of Jersey St. and Boylston - South West corner - I got there around 9AM and paid $20 for the day.  I did notice the rate jumped to $50 in the afternoon due to the concert.  When I was paying to leave, the parking garage attendant instinctively asked for $50 until I showed him my early entry ticket, so I paid my $20 without incident.
I did take a while to get to the highway from the garage due to walking and car traffic in the area.  I was also fortunate to have great field level seats that night, so I definitely wasn't one of the first people out of the stadium.
Safe travels to you and your son.

Just my experience from Sox games and concerts, when any event at Fenway has let out, the foot traffic from Cask N Flagon all the way to Berklee College is cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.  I mean if your car is in that vicinity, unless you leave during the encore, you are not going to breeze out of there.  There's car traffic, foot traffic and the bicycle traffic all within that 1 mile radius.  Just throwing it out there.

I got it. Thank you fir your input. Any tips are welcome. I definitely knew it’d be a while to get to the highway ... another downside of stadium shows.
  • right I mean, there are those coming from out of town that maybe are staying in the Quincy area as an example, 20 minutes south of Boston and are taking the train to Fenway.  The trains will be packed, too but I'd venture to guess you'd get out of the area quicker via train then car. Now if you are walking 2 miles away from the stadium to get to your car, that's naturally a lot better because at that point you would only be dealing with half the foot traffic (but still some car traffic).  Keep in mind that it is a holiday weekend folks and most people do not have to work on Monday, so there will be traffic in town even not for the concert on Sunday night.

Gonna be a different vibe than 2016 based on daylight alone. Will be considerably darker at 7:30 this time around.....wonder if that amps up the intensity?

  • yeah good point.  I can see them going to 11pm honestly with the holiday on Sunday night.  Interesting that Red Mosquito was on the setlist for August 5th and 7th shows at Fenway in 2016 and weren't played.  I could go for a Release>Dissident>Breath 1-2-3 to open Sunday.  Hoping at least.  :)
