I never understood the hype over the Cracker Jack. I have the Ames and the Munk One from that show which were better posters to me. The Pitt 13 however I do understand. I'm looking at it on my wall right now. It's pretty sweet.
I didn't know this but was talking to people in the merch line about the cracker jack.  Chicago apparently was the home of the cracker jack factory which I didn't know.  I thought it was just baseball themed and related to Wrigley.  I think a lot of local Chicagoans want the poster for that reason and increases demand.  Kind of like this years Thomas the Train.  It's PJ related but also intimately mixed with the town the show was in.
I was not aware of that. Thanks for the info. I pretty much thought the same thing about it as you.

Yeah, that's why I had to get my hands on a Thomas poster this year.  It'll look great on my wall next to this Wilco poster:

It really is a nice one.  I took a picture of it the other day in preparation of putting it in a nicer frame and it's even better in person (even with the weird angle from holding it up in my bathroom which has the most accurate lighting in my house):

That's beautiful. I've had great luck with Chicago themed posters so far.
    This Wilco:

    And this Umphrey's one:

Im with you tho, no skulls, dead animals, or 3 eyed anything in the main rooms, lol.
That's funny, those are the only ones I consider main room posters...but I don't have any.

I too only buy ones from shows I go to.  Unfortunately, most of my shows have kind of crappy posters.  My friend just buys what she likes...but I can't get into that.  So far I have an overweight shark with dietary indescretion, some fighter jets, a skydiving husky, a putrid orange EV poster (and I LIKE orange), an evel knievel themed EV poster, a flourescent orange PEARL JAM poster with blue cartoon character border, and casper the friendly ghost wearing a gas mask.  The only poster that I have that I actually like is the EV Long Beach poster with Titan holding a spear.  Really would love to go to a show with an interesting poster for once.

there will always be some debate on whatever poster is considered art or just rubbish.
But there is something that has always made me wondering, why don't they use local "unknown" artist, and make it into some kind of competition, like you get a month or two to come up with a painting( or what ever they need to make a print ) and there should be something on it so you could tell what city it was.
PJ always talks about supporting local small bands why not some artist?

Burn my eyes and try to blind me
Bury me so they won't find me
Try to suck my power empty
Got no crown of thorns on me

I have all three Ames Posters from the 1998 shows I attended.  I assume in good condition they are on the rarer side as most people just paid $10 for the poster at the show and then hung them in their dorm rooms.  Never mind the AP's that were released.  These were fun shows too !!

Plus the poster from the show I attended in 1994.  The poster is the dead dog Ames poster.  Who still has a mint one of those ?? But  for the completist who attended a show in 1994 MUST have this poster. What are they selling for ??

I agree, that's a great idea, might inject some new life into the poster designs .

No?  SB '06 Emek would be closest, but there are questions of how many of both actually got released to the public.
