Which lyrics form the new album get to you the most?

Gone with a very close Inside Job.

It makes me go... 'hang on a minute, how'd you guys know about that?'

None of hte lyrics really get to me, I quite enjoy them! I love the whole war theme. Not the fact that it causes death, just the fact that we can kind of relate.

My favorite is probably this verse from Unemployable:

"Well his wife and kids' asleep but he's still awake
On his brain weighs the curse of thirty bills unpaid
Gets up, lights a cigarette he's grown to hate
Thinkin if he can't sleep, how will he ever dream again..."

With this section from Army Reserve being a close second:

    "Her son's slanted
Always giving her the sideways eye
An empty chair where dad sits
    How loud can silence get?
And mom, she reassures to contain him
    But it's becoming a lie...
She tells herself and everyone else
Father is risking his life for our freedoms"

I love how he sings the last two lines from that. Like the mother knows it's not entirely true, but is trying to convince herself that it is. So sad.

  • Now you got both sides claiming killing in God's name
But God is nowhere...to be found convenently
    ...
    God, what do you say?

What a neat way to capsulize all the horrible things that people do in the name of organized religion without ever stopping to ask themselves what God might say. Who knows what might happen if they spent more time listening and less time shouting each other down?

    Those undecided
Needn't have faith to be free.
    And those misguided,
There was a plan for them to be...

Thats exactly how i feel. Although religion is a great thing it is used alot of the time in the wrong way, i am undecided when it comes to god but i have the freedom to enjoy this life as much as i can
  • the lyrics on the new record are really good - took a month or two to set it, but....

    I'd say Gone for now...

Come Back certainly rings true as well.

There must be an open door for you
    To come back
  • Life Wasted.

I think that song hits the nail on the head when applied to my life right now.

The world awaits just up the stairs
Leave the pain for someone else
Nothing back there for you to find
Or was it you you left behind?
You're always saying you're too weak to be strong
You're harder on yourself than just about anyone
Why swim the channel just to get this far?
Halfway there, why would you turn around?

Make your life a mission - not an intermission. - Arnold Gasglow

Two lyrics stand out for me....

"You can't say I never tried"....

    * I think this line in the text of the song is very powerful cause it says alot about today's labor conditions in the U.S. For an American to lose their job to someone who is willing to work at a lower rate, what can that person say, "You can't say I never tried"......

"I will run into the rain, to shine a human light again"....

    * The entire song is a inner revelation, and the first part is when someone's admits all their faults, and then when it hits the above line, the song turns into a healing mode, I will run into the rain, to be cleaned off, and then my inner soul/beauty will once again be revealed.

Definitely -Gone- right now. Sometimes my wife and I just feel really restless in general, and we just hop in the car and drive, to nowhere, making turns when we feel like it.

We've gone several states away with no plan before deciding to turn back for home. Makes us feel really free for a moment.

Man, thats precisely what life is to me.

I wish I was older to do that. Thats what its all about. Just driving, states on end, listening, thinking... thats it.

I wish I could do that.

Next time youre out on the road, close your eyes and be there for me.

Both of which I agree, but Army Reserve I would place first. Of all the posts I do not see much write up over this song.

    Its awesome- music and lyrics.
