The song is generally about fighting the media and how the portray the band and stuff. 5 against 1 i believe means the 5 of them against the World/Media World.
it is...never heard the media theory before.....:)
1) The abuse and violence towards people in general...not necessarily against women, but I definitely see how that theme is popular among fans with some of Eddie's other lyrics already having that theme.
2) It's the five members of the band against the media and all of the media scrutiny (and praise) that they received. Some think it was a song about PJ vs Ticketmaster, but I believe they wrote the song a while before getting into the Ticketmaster issue.
3) It's Stone, Jeff, Mike, Dave, and Kelly Curtis against Eddie. Sort of an internal strife with Eddie. I have seen an interview where Eddie mentioned this and Kim Neely's book "5 Against 1" alluded to this as well. Although we know that Neely was a little biased and slanted in some ways.
Personally, I lean more towards a mix of the first two that I listed. I don't know which one is correct, all I know is that it rocks at a show!

i learned of the rape theory when the album came out......the only thing that would relate to that is the 5 against 1 lyric...the rest i can't see relating to the media.....
