Mike McCready - Nice guy but not a fan of stage antics

Met Mike a couple times at Flight to Mars shows. All I have to say is that he couldn't be any nicer. Comes out and speaks to fans waiting in line. Takes pictures with them, signs autographs. During shows throws dozens of picks out, he even holds poses when someone is trying to get a picture of him on stage. This all on top of donating money and time to various charities, most notably Crohn's and Colitis. 
I love Pearl Jam more than any other band by a large margin and respect and appreciate all what each individual in the band does for their fans and community, but no one in the band connects with the fans like Mike. He literally is approachable. Unless he all of sudden becomes some prima dona asshole in the next year or so, I will always be a huge Mike fan and supporter. Oh...and he is an excellent guitar player, so what's not to love?

The OP is entitled to his opinion, doesn't deserve the back lash he's been given here. Dear God, he didn't say Mike was a bad musician.  That would be something to get upset about.  So he doesn't like his stage presence, who gives a fuck?  I love Stone yet my friends give him no respect. Do I give a fuck, NO.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion but it shows a real lack of class to come on to the message board of a band you profess to like and slag off one of their members, actually calling him a douche, just because you don’t like something.  It’s selfish and shows a real sense of entitlement.

Regardless, I’m sure Mike doesn’t give two-shits about your opinion.  The man plays for himself, we’re just lucky enough that he’s shares his talent with us.

The old adage still applies, and I wish more people would heed it, if you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing.

I guess thats the thing with peoples opinions.. You know the saying right? 

I remember hearing Eddie say one time in a bootleg, "you form a band then you get on stage and play in front of thousands of people and you can do whatever the Fcuk you like" (Something like that..) but you get the gist right?

Anyway Paul, I look forward to hearing your band in the future in front of thousands of people.

For me tho...Mike keep running circles and smashing the strings!!

He is lead guitar in a band and has developed his on stage "character" and that's his process for getting out there in 25000 and many more people and play perfectly. Whatever he has to do is fine with me. cheers! Amy

“Antics”? That implies that he’s doing something that he shouldn’t, like you’re scolding a naughty child.
The guy’s having fun onstage doing what he loves (and is great at) doing. I can’t imagine anyone standing on Mike’s side at a show thinking anything else, to be honest. He’s happy, and that makes the crowd happy.
