"All Those Yesterdays"

Don't you think you oughtta rest?
Don't you think you oughtta lay you head down?
Don't you think you want to sleep?
Don't you think you oughtta lay your head down tonight?

Don't you think you've done enough?
Oh, don't you think you've got enough, well maybe..
You don't think there's time to stop
There's time enough for you to lay your head down, tonight, tonight

Let it wash away
All those yesterdays

What are you running from?
Taking pills to get along
Creating walls to call your own
So no one catches you? drifting off and
Doing all the things that we all do

Let them wash away
All those yesterdays
All those yesterdays
All those paper plates

You've got time, you've got time to escape
There's still time, it's no crime to escape
It's no crime to escape, it's no crime to escape
There's still time, so escape
It's no crime, crime..

  • I guess I am alone tonight in my appreciation of this song. I was just in the car and I had to repeat it about 4 times.

awww Rita, don't worry, I know I am late, but hey, better late than never right?;)

Another great song penned by the DUCK MAN. This man keeps on writing these great songs that makes us think and listen. It is that kind of song, along w/Around the Bend, in which you want to listen to as you lie down on your bed and drift off to sleep. Truly a beautiful song.

    GO STONEY BOY!!

Absolutely LOVE this one! I also love when a song hits you like that lovelyrita...a song you have heard a million plus times and know that you love, but one day it's just like "WHOA! WHOA! No...I really, really love this song!!! This song is GREAT!" And you just can't get enough of it. It gets stuck in super high rotation. This does happen quite often with PJ as we know. ;) And seeing as they have SO many great songs...it's good to go about things this way. :)

Go Stone indeed!!! All Those Yesterdays is a BEAUTIFUL song. I nearly wet myself when I found out they played it at Boston 3 last tour. That and Tremor Christ all in the same show?!?! Whew. :o A lot to take in. Anyways though, this song is one of a kind. I love it on SVT. :) As soon as the "What are you running from?" part comes in I just feel it more than ever. The song progresses in such a gorgeous way. And how about that ending!?!?! Ooooh man...forces me to sway! Love it!!! Ed's voice = perfect. The whole feel of the song is just so chill. It puts you at ease. Reassuring you that you can take time for you, that you have enough time to lay that head down, to just let things wash away, to escape (what I get from it anyway). I love the feeling of this song. It's very relaxing and free. GREAT song...period.

Lovely call with this lovelyrita! I think I must go put this bad boy on rotation now too. ;)

Also must add that after seeing SVT I can't help but do the Stoney side-to-side shuffle everytime I hear this one...even if I'm confined to a chair...I always find a way. ;)

    :):):)

    "Stop....op....op...."

hehe. It's difficult to listen to Yield without adding all these little Single Video Theory-isms. ;)

Ahhhh, but I also really love on Boston 3 when Ed changes the ending part to "you've got to escape, there's still time to FREE YOUR MIND and escape." Just beautiful. :) Beautiful, untouchable song from one hell of a perfect album. It fits.

"All i want is for you to make love to me...that's just in the song, i don't mean it" Eddie (14-7-93)
  • one of my favorites on Yield, Stone really hit the nail on the head with this one.
"I'll do whatever the song dictates - if it doesn't need a real lead, then I won't do one. But if it does, then I'll fuckin' go off." - Mike

"Japan is awesome; the fans there knew all the words to all the songs...at least phonetically." - Stone

"I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version." - EV

I love how perfectly it fits opening SVT up and at the same time how perfect it fits as an end to the motherload album that is YIELD. A song that can truely do no wrong.

    Again, Ed's voice =perfect

Love the feel of this one...how it oozes in and gently rocks you. Such a beauty. :o

  • Love it, plain and simple.
I shit and I stink. I'm real, join the club.

A friend, he called, I didn't mention a thing. The last thing he said was, "Be sound". Sound. I contemplated an awful thing, I hate to admit. I just thought those would be such appropriate last words. But I'm still here.
  • I think you guys just about said it all, but its as peter griffin would say "freaking sweet"
    "Pussies no more"

One of my favorite PJ tunes...

  • This song brings back a lot of memories for me

I knew someone online , he played this song for me on his guitar and made me a PJ- fan , haven't seen him in ages , but will never forget him

    Love Always
Hold me, and make it the truth,...
That when all is lost there will be you,...
Cause to the universe I don't mean a thing
And there's just one word I stil believe
    And it's Love
