Yield

Does anyone else agree that this is their greatest album. Most succinct, greatest departure from their original sound. Most soulful. I feel like this album put them into a whole new realm.

Anyone else?

Total agreeance. Its their most spiritual album. The fantastic photography to the album helps a lot, the mood to that album is perfect. Therer is not another album llike it. As Jeff says on SVT, that feeling of infinate possibility...its a life affirming album.

  • I definately agree with you Cropduster.
When others ask why I love Pearl Jam, I usually say...listen to Yeild. It is definately in my top ten albums of all time...EVER.
Man, I want to listen to it now, but it is too late, besides it is best in my car!!

  • Yepp, Yield is their best album.

Every single song rocks, not one creepy song, just 100% greatness

Yield is the best album ever made. It's nice to see most of this board agreeing with that. :)

It's like a special relaxing atmosphere on this album.

From the 1.2.3.4 ... 1.2.3.4. until the hidden track. Masterpiece!

“ ahh…. Yaa…. If you trust me at all… if you wanna listen to me at all… which you certainly don’t have to. Speaking from experience I can tell you that things change. You could believe me, you don’t have to. They probably won’t change, unless you make them. The best way to change something around you, something you don’t like, is.. to change yourself. I don’t think you want other people changing you.. I think.. I think.. the only person you want changing you… is yourself. So if you ain’t happy…. If you’re reading magazines about generation x’s and thinking ‘ya im one of them’ well fuck that…. Don’t let anybody tell you who you are. No… No…. No one can tell me who I am. I can tell you who I am but that would be a long story… I can tell you who I am and it wouldn’t fit in a Rolling Stone…. It wouldn’t fit in a video… it wouldn’t… its my life…. Its your life. Youre the only one that knows who you are. I hope you know who you are. If you don’t know who you are, figure it out. Cause you are some body. And Im probably stating the obvious. But I just thought I would do it anyway. So if you fell like you got a piece of duct tape on your mouth, if you feel like you cant speak. Take it off, Speak up. Speak your Mind. Shout it Out. Let ‘em Hear Ya. Shout it out…… YAAA YAAAAA yAAAAAAAAAAA.” Eddie Vedder (Porch ’96 Randle Island 2)

  • It's probably #3 on my list. Excellent album, though, I agree.

    Yep.
  • It's nice to know so many of you agree. I think Faithful, Given to Fly and In Hiding are perfect songs. It always suprises me that they get no radio play.

Why do radio stations (at least in NYC) play the same songs:

    Alive
    Evenflow
    Black
    Jeremy
    Daughter
    Elderly
    Wishlist
    Corduroy
    Better Man

Can anyone give me a hand here?

its the same with all radio stations. they wont play songs off albums that have not been released as singles. they will only play the popular ones, the songs ppl know. its the way it is. if u ask them to play another song they will usually say they dont have it or dont have the time to play it. always the same.

and yield is not my fav album. sorry to mess up the good vibe.i put it way down the list, just didnt have the same 'i wanna play it over and over and over' effect the others did. but, still in its own right, is a work of art

I heard Wishlist on xfm in London....it wasn't til I went to Australia on holiday....and we were in Canberra (spit) for the day.....and my brother said he'd buy me a CD in the record shop....in Sanity....hehehehehehe.....and I got Yield.....my first CD.....so you could say that Canberra has got good memories for me.....but I heard later that the magpies go for your eyes.....from my brother's girlfriend when she came to London......and that people wear baseball caps with eyes painted on the brim.....so that the 'pies go for the fake yes.....well, I was just worried about spiders....I walked across a log in Lismore....to get away from the spiders....I nearly killed myself.....now living here....I'll nivvir go back to Canberra......unless it's just to buy Yield for old time's sake.....cos I left the CD in London......fukkin spiders.....there's no fukkin spiders....every1 told me that you had to check the dunny....I was petrified.....Yield has definitely got to be my favourite....even though I don't really have that many albums....fuk....I officially love Yield....okay? :D
....they're asking me to prove why I should be allowed to stay with my baby in Australia, because I'm mentally ill......and they think I should leave......

definatly my fave of their studio album, every song is totally awesome and magical. I remember when I was in 5th grade listening to Brain of J for the first time at a listening station at Borders and thinking that it was the greatest song that I had ever heard, hooked on Pearls Jam since then. Still my favorite album by far, the songs just plain rock. Brain of J, Evolution and Pilate are definatly in my top five. Love that album sooooooo freakin' much.
