Binaural

this was posted in the other section and none seemed to respond so I took the liberty of cut and pasting it to this one :

Do you guys have any idea on the meaning of binaural?
I heard once that it was about a war. IE. Breaker Fall is about love being able to stop a bomb (symbol of war) from falling. Gods Dice is how the war was unpreventable. Evacuation is self explanitory and so on and so forth. Anyways any ideas, critisms, or interpretations would be cool. Thanks

now people kept saying explain the process of Binaural as a recording idea, but what he meant is basically the record as a whole is it a concept album like a story as I've heard this idea before I was hoping you guys could enlighten us both.

It's the term for the type of process they used in recording the album.

It's basically using two microphones to record every instrument, instead of one, so it's just as the human ear would hear it.

ok for the 709th time I KNOW WHAT BINUARAL MEANS,

the question is what do you think of it as a concept record is it? or just common themes. I am talking about the Pearl Jam cd not the recording process.

  • It is a concept album if you want it to be

The concept for me is that it is really great music. It's about life, one song is about someone who is ready to change their life, one is about two lovers who have drifted apart, and so on.

yeah well the thing with PJ is that there are no explanations available that are cut and dry about their work. it is to be interpretted differently by each idividual. now personnally i agree that binaural is a concept album and i have no doubt that riot act is. i think that as a whole, riot act is a mch better album. but thats just like, my opinion, man.

see as I said there are for sure common themes but is it a story- ciuple falls in love man goes to war village is bombed etc. or just those common themes. I must agree that Riot Act is a better record, I think it's arguably thier best.
