Public transportation to Camden from NYC

edited March 2008 in The Porch
Another thread inspired me but I've mistakenly thought that Camden was much closer to NYC and that public transportation would be easy. After research it looks complicated.

Anyone done this before? And can anyone give me some tips? I'd like to not stay overnight in Camden/Philly

This will be my first time using public transportation there. there are some options.

    1. you can take the nj transit from penn to trenton then transfer on the river line that will take you directly to the amphit.

    2. there are a lot of buses that goes to philly then just cab across river.

i will be using nj transit.
    Too many shows to list:
From my first show in Hawaii when they opened for RHCP to upcoming 2016 MSG and Wrigley. Seen them in every continent except Africa and Antarctica.

I don't have a car and there are limited borrowing options for me at this point. Renting one would be near $100 so...

you should probably go to hartford instead of camden. might be easier to find transportation back to the city that way.

OMG...I had an adventure last time they played in Camden. (Good and bad)...We took the NJ transit(Train) from NYC then we took the Rail to Camden...Going is easy...but if you miss the rail b/c you wanted to see pj finish their entire setlist you are going to get stuck in NJ unless you take the ferry to Phili and then look for a hotel....I experienced that....and looking for a hotel late at night was crazy....

I wouldn't advise to go there unless you get a ride by car...or decide to stay in phili and pay lots of money...by the way Camden looks trashy and scary...

I took Greyhound back at 1:30 in the morning, I wasn't thrilled about doing that, so I wouldn't go again unless I knew I had a ride to and from the show.

As someone who grew up and lived most of my life near Camden, I can tell you that you DO NOT want to be in Camden late at night, even in the station waiting for a Greyhound.

I live in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn, and most of my life in Detroit, so I don't really care about all that
