My girlfriend and I had a fantastic time last night, this was our 1st show this tour after the London 2 reschedule. The GA ticket holders looked like they were having a great time all the way through. I wish I could have been there but had to make do with nosebleeds due to epilepsy. What a set list though!!
Mike was also on form all night as well. There was some light smashing, guitar throwing, amp smashing... just pure unadulterated aggression coming out.Manchester 2 - 2012Milton Keynes - 2014Krakow - 2018

I hope they play music instead of bitching and putting our country down. Everyone is entitled to there opinions, I get that, and being able to play music and express your views in fantastic! In my opinion it ruins the show for some people.Post edited by dr_ed_dds on0

Special thanks to the Polish fans on the rail (especially the woman on Stone’s side) who chased away all the people pushing their way to the front! I didn’t get your name but you were AWESOME in helping out us non-local fans0

When my husband and I decided to catch a couple of Pearl Jam concerts on their European tour this summer we deliberately selected Krakow as our top pick because we just had that feeling that Krakow would be a special one. Then when we took in the Prague concert and were personally blown away for very personal reasons by the second set I, for one, doubted Krakow could come close to evoking the sort of emotion that Prague did. Boy was I wrong.
We wound up about 5 rows back on Stone’s side, which in and of itself was unusual for us, as we have always, for no real reason, found ourselves on Mike’s side in the pit. Fortunately I found myself behind a number of shorter people (for a change!) and actually had a fantastic view of Eddie, Stone, Matt, and Boom for most of the show, which, in and of itself, was a bonus already for me, since most concerts I find myself straining and fighting to sneak a glimpse of the performers. And I will also say that, though I was fully prepared for a rough night of jostling and shoving, other than my husband having to shove off a few local kids trying to fight their way to the front from much further back it was refreshingly manageable for me to hold my position for the whole concert. [Which I was truly surprised about because there appeared to be quite a bit of tension developing close to the time of early admission and I expected, for some reason, that it would be a really rough experience similar to concerts I’ve been to in South America).
Of The Girl is hands down for me is my absolute favourite opener and was really hoping, but not optimistically, that they would open with that. It was the opener to my first concert and holds special meaning. It’s sexy, bluesy vibe had me rocking and swaying from the first beats. The fact that Present Tense followed was simply divine. Last Exit, though not one of my favourites, I know was a highlight for my husband, so I was also thrilled for that. By the songs, Why Go and Do The Evolution, I could feel the energy in the crowd beginning to really ramp up, making it that much more fun!!!
I remember wondering about, when they were putting the set list together, whether they deliberately insterted In Hiding where they did to try to manage the level of the crowd’s frenzy. Again, I had been anticipating a shitstorm in the pit, particularly when Corduroy played, as normally occurs, and the fact that they didn’t escalate the first set in that way makes me wonder. Regardless of the reason, I for one was thrilled with how deep into their catalogue they were going and that a lot more of their ‘mid’-tempo bluesy tunes were being brought out. Songs like Garden, OTG, NFY, Fuckin’ Up, Yellow Ledbetter and of course their cover of Comfortaby Numb were such an awesome showcase for Mike’s amazing skills, and I loved it!!!!
I also LOVED that the camera was on those two adorable Aussie girls for most of Green Disease. Their sheer joy was a blast to watch. As an aside, I just love that Eddie finds opportunities to single folks out that he thinks have really earned the chance to feel special like that. It warmed my heart, just as it did when he took that little girl Mathilda and her family to the side to watch with his wife and daughters. That sort of compassion and empathy is one of the many reasons I adore this band!!
The roll into the ending of the second set was perfect. I always feel so fucking uplifted when I hear Eddie sing Given To Fly it makes me feel like I can do anything! Garden....what more do I need to say? And Lightening Bolt....yes it has been played at every concert I’ve ever been to in the past 5 years, but its the song that reminds my husband of how I came into his life, so I will NEVER EVER tire of hearing it live ;-)
And then.....well....Just Breathe has been, again, an incredibly important song in my life, so when that opened the second set I felt my knees go weak. I adored his little chat and how he censored it for his kids, and how he handled the technical issues was perfect!!! Footsteps, Once, Life Wasted....again....all I can say is I felt like i was experiencing one of those rare moments of pure carefree joy. Thanks guys!!!
The final set I fully expected Eddie to, again, play Elderly Woman to the crowd behind the band (always a thoughtful touch that I love to see). I was NOT expecting Comfortably Numb, and when I saw the emotion that it evoked in my husband I felt thrilled with gratitude once again! Fuckin Up is a personal favourite (its a cover of one of our Canadian legends, Neil Young AND it so eloquently conveys how I feel about myself so often in my life ;-) I was also delighted with the always inspirational Alive and the Yellow Ledbetter conclusion since watching Mike making love to his guitar as he closes out the show is always like the icing on the cake!!!
My ONLY grievance about the entire concert experience has nothing to do with the actual concert to be perfectly honest. It was the fact that, as tourists to Krakow and unfamiliar with the public transit system, we found outselves standing in the TAXI zone outside of the arena for over an hour before finally catching a cab. However, I can even say that there was a silver lining to that small misfortune, as we wound up sharing a ride to Old Town in a cab with a lovely Polish girl who had travelled in to Krakow from the countryside to see them, and we learned a bit about what Eddie Vedder and the band means to her.....for example, about how special it was to her that Eddie took the time to learn about the Polish leader’s efforts to shut down the citizen’s rights to peacefully protest.
Thanks Eddie, Mike, Jeff, Stone, Matt and Boom (and everyone else who makes these shows possible) for another epic and life-enhancing experience! I can’t wait to see you again in Seattle and Missoula!Post edited by tamisita on0 -
This is a long shot, but I have two Berlin posters and want to trade one for a Krakow one. (If this swap fails, I'm selling the Berlin poster at its original price + tube + shipping (if applicable))
