Are the setlists less varied on this tour?

I haven’t done any maths on this, so could well be wrong, but having been to three shows so far (Amsterdam twice and London) I have noticed less variation in the songs being played. I’ve also been looking at the other sets from the shows I’ve not been at.

Don’t get me wrong, I am by no means disappointed with what I’ve heard and have had a song or two I’ve never heard live before, but it just doesn’t seem as ranging as before.

Have we just been spoilt in the past with 35 song setlists and loads of variety?

What do other people think?

    What I've noticed:

Typically 1-2 slow songs to start. On rare occasions, a longer "slow" start, such as the Gorge 2006 or Fenway 2.

Even Flow in a spot between 8 and 12.

The last three songs tend to be Alive, a cover of usually RIFTW and the final song of Y Led or Indifference.

Hopefully some new songs lead to more randomness.

Yep, I’ve noticed those hallmarks too. Seems a bit more routine than previous tours. Reckons it’s anything to do with Ed’s voice? Did they have less rehearsal time?

Yeah, that’s another good point. Plenty of Ten in the sets. Except for Oceans and Garden - which are the only two I’ve not heard live yet :(

It tool me 4 shows before I heard Black and I've gotten it at every show since.  I feel like anymore Black is almost a guarantee like Corduroy or Alive.

Porch is one which allows Ed to rest his voice. He can take a break while the band jam.

Looks like Eddie's concerns with his voice made things a little more predictable than normal.

Rome tonight is a crazy main set, hope this continues!

Hope they start to switch it up. 3 full days to practice after tonight!

Ha! I think they may look at practice a bit like Allen Iverson.... Seriously, though I would love to hear more recent deep cuts (getaway, gonna see my friend, infallible). Pendulum opener was great to see the other night.  I agree these shows have all seemed to be chock full of predictable, old songs. Not that there's anything wrong with that, we're just spoiled rotten with these guys.

If I hear Corduroy, given to fly or small town this weekend I'm gonna boo the band. Same with black and alive in the encore ; )

I'll take your tickets then ;) I actually love hearing corduroy and given to fly.  I'm a little over the others, but I'd still rather go to a PJ show than pretty much do anything else on earth!

The only song I'd say I am sick of hearing after 20 or so shows is "porch." It was never my favourite and seems to be the main set closer almost all the time. It has become my bathroom break. Of course this is from someone who has been very lucky to see the band more times then an average PJ concert attendee. Keep in mind TEN would be #1 on any vote at any concert as favourite album by ALL attendees. Us faithful TC members are heavily outweighed at any show by casual fans, meaning TEN is the album those people want to hear the most. They pretty much have to play a bunch of those songs.

This are the stats 7 shows into the tour for the last couple of tours. So both total set length and number of different songs played has come down somewhat in this tour. Let's hope it's because they have been too busy working on new songs :)

Thanks Roeland.  At least the cover count is down too.

Really hope they will mix it up in Prague and Krakow. 2014 tour was much better in that regard.

I thought (hoped!) someone would put something together to show the stats. I would have done it had someone else not taken the time to.

    They have spoilt us!

Nice! They should relax with their families...they do work hard and we are very lucky followers. I'm so grateful that I still get to see them since my first show so many years ago!!

I actually don't care if they practice.  I'd rather a messy show with rarities than hearing a perfect versions of Alive, Corduroy, given to fly etc.

They need to rehearse whatever they play. I don’t know if you’ve played music, but you can forget how songs are played surprisingly easily. It comes back quickly, but rust grows!

This is true for sure. I can not remember if it was London or Amsterdam but someone threw a Green Disease shirt up to the stage. Eddie then asked the band if any of them remembered how to play it which kind of surprised me. Just goes to show how much this band gives to play as many varied songs as they do.

Yes its getting pretty samey these days. Far too much Footsteps also. Let's see how the rest of the tour turns out as we're only half way and got some good arena shows coming up.

jesus, my band back in the day had like 10 songs. nearly every fucking practice even the guy who WROTE the song had to ask how it went again. I can't imagine having hundreds to remember.

It was Amsterdam 2, I think Mike tried the first few notes, stopped then they started light years. Lights turned green during light years so I thought they were meant to play green disease but changed their minds.
