Is Breakerfall about Courtney Love?

Haha. Just a funny thought that just occurred to me. Not to be taken entirely seriously. But, taking into account PJ's history with her, and her feelings about the band and Eddie, wouldn't it be neat if Ed had written this about her? Anything's possible.

    what's her history with PJ?
So that is how I learned the lesson that everyone is alone. And your eyes must do some raining if you are ever going to grow. But when crying don't help and you can't compose yourself. It is best to compose a poem, an honest longing or simple song of hope.
    That is why I'm singing

I was wondering the same thing!
  • Kurt had a very public dislike for the band at first....especially Eddie. He talked about them and busted on them in many interviews. After awhile, Coutney started to do the same. Before he died, Kurt made his peace with Eddie, saying Eddie was an alright guy, but that he still thought the band sucked. Courtney though has never let up. She still publicly bashes PJ from time to time, calling them corporate rock and sellouts, living on Kurts legacy. If she has changed her mind about this, feel free to let me know...but I haven't read anywhere about Courtney letting up on PJ.

  • I do know that she has compared Eddie with Abraham Lincoln. If thats not a compliment, i don't know what is. Happy b-day Ed.

kurt only talked shit to make nirvana seem less corporate.... he was very careful what he said.. and everything he said was always too sided.. he'd insult them, but then say he doesn't really no anything about him.... considering they slow danced during tears in heaven together, i'd say they ended the fued that never existed... in fact, they were scheduled to play a concert together.... kurt also acknowledge that there was never any feud....

courtney's problem? she killed kurt... i used to never believe this... but then i found http://www.cobaincase.com .... very interesting reading... the think i found most odd is kurt had 3 times the leathal dose of heroin in his body.... even for a regular drug user... there's no way he could have shot himself with that much heroin... he would have instantly OD'd...... also, if you really listen to live through this, it's quite apparent that kurt wrote this entire album.....
  • well that might all be true...but it doesn't change the fact that it would just be really neat if the song was about her. That's all I'm sayin.

I think Curt Cobain's music was hopeless rock and roll totally depressing and although I am sad about his final outcome, after listening to his music I was not surprised he did what he did to himself. This unfortunately happens to alot of people when they wallow in drug addiction. Pearl Jam's music has vision and deep expression to life's questions that most have, people can relate to it. They produce great positive music and pose many questions to us the fans. I think they are the best band going these days without question.

If it is, they should've let her jump.

    Ha!

    Very funny.

But no, even Courtney deserves our sympathy.

Well, not if Eddie is a staunch confederate.

  • Who would call PJ sellouts? They rarely get played in radio stations, they don't even come out on MTV, and they're definitely not a corporate band. Not because they can't but because they don't need to.

Oh, by the way , you know, I really liked Kurt. Awesome voice and great performer. He was a true artist. but don't some of you think he seemed kind of gay? He talked weird, his hand expressions seemed pretty weird, and he was always talking smack. Anyways I still liked them but as far as frontman Eddie Vedder, well, he's a much greater person that's why he's still alive. Ha Ha! That was a joke.

If Courtney calls them sellouts, man, that lady is way off. She's more of a sellout and no one likes her. Not even the survivors of Nirvana.

Anyways I know I'm out of the topic but yeah they should've written the song for her. Ha Ha.

My original thought, when the idea for this thread occured to me, was that it would be just like Pearl Jam to write a song like this about Courtney...a woman who has said so many negative things about PJ to the press and probably hurt--at least Eddie's--feelings. For them to then write a song about her saying, basically, "You've got your problems, babe, but really, all you need is love." Almost like extending an olive branch to her, despite the fact that she's done nothing to deserve it.

I wouldn't say Kurt seemed "gay" but rather that he was effeminate. A lot of the "true" artists do seem effeminate. I've even seen Eddie say a few things that were'nt reeking of masculinity. But, then again, maybe Kurt was gay--and that just added to his tortured inner life, y'know, needing to keep up a pretense all the time, on top of his already considerable misery.

  • I see what you're saying.

But look at Phil from Pantera. He's an awesome artist, I have to say. He's a great performer and a very realistic person and don't take crap from anyone. He's a real person with real talent. If some are close minded about that well check him out with Down. He's also frontman of other bands such as Superjoint Ritual. But his most artistic side is more relevant with Down.

Down has been called as a true American band. I would compare them with Alice in Chains. Well, I tell you this to say that Phil in no way does he look, talk, or act effeminate. I think he's a gay basher but that doesn't prove that he's not a true artist. I like that guy. (I hope that don't sound gay) But really, Phil is one of the most inspiring frontmans to this very day. As well as Eddie Vedder. I think so. what do you think?

I wasn't saying that being gay or effeminate makes you any less of an artist. I didn't say anything like that. I was just responding to a post by another person who said Kurt might have been gay. I don't really give a shit if anyone is gay or not. It's none of my concern, and shouldn't affect how anyone views them as an artist.

I've never listened to Pantera, so I can't comment on that fella. But of course I think Eddie's inspiring. He's inspired me more than any other artist ever has.

  • I don't know if you're pissed but I am the same guy that posted on Kurt being gay.

And I assumed you were saying that being gay or effeminate makes you any less of an artist because you said that "A lot of the "true" artists do seem effeminate. "

But, anyways, that don't matter. I'm just saying check out Down.

Those guys are great. If you like Alice in Chains then you'll like Down.

Sorry--I re-read that last post of mine, and I did come off as being pissed. I didn't mean to...that's just the way I ended up sounding. Pay me no mind.

She has indeed hurt his feelings...he showed as much in 1994 when a reporter from Melody Maker unintentionally blindsided him with something very cruel that she said about him. However she seems to have come around at some point. After that late-1996 Rolling Stone cover story that slammed Eddie she wrote a VERY strongly worded letter to the magazine sticking up for him.

As for Kurt's sexuality...he was deliberately rather ambiguous and stated publicly that he could probably go either way. Although i'm not sure why anyone cares. :)

Thanks... :) I'd like to state for the record that I do not care a lick what Kurt's sexuality was.

That finally being out of the way, I'm glad that Courtney finally came around...although I could swear I remember reading a quote from her post-96 that was anti-PJ, but I could definitely be wrong. It's just fun to think about...I don't think I'll ever listen to Breakerfall the same way again.

I think Family Guy can say it best for me. She has the cheek to call PJ sellouts. She dates all these 'celebrity' people and stars in films etc.

She tries to sell out herself with her records but cant even write a decent pop song to get herself noticed in the music business for anything other than being Cobains widow.
Well, that Celebrity Skin song was pretty popular... but that was about 10 years ago.
