Protection
Sometimes when I start new projects that are quite difficult, fear comes up fast like the back of a stopped car on the freeway. Will this be too hard? Can I actually do this? Do I have enough time to do it right? The beginning of a piece like that can be terrifying.
To motivate myself to face these feelings, I think about how I love the person I’m learning it for. This calls up my courage and allows me to face the project. I have found that my love for others can bring out my strength better than willpower alone. Once my protective instinct is awake, I can face my fears and not get overwhelmed.
Perhaps like the black bear who finds extra energy to protect her endangered cubs, we all can draw on love to find courage which in can turn can defeat our human foe, Anxiety?
