I find myself going through the motions of this song
and its sometimes scary,
why are we like we are ?
the few of us who detach and push people away
and lock the doors and pull shades down and crawl
into our comfort zone,

i finally have been really reading pj's lyrics, used to id just listen and mumble parts i couldnt understand-
and this song is so good its scary,

why am i this way, am i afraid of the world, afraid to be myself
dunno

"jesus greets me looks just like me"
"thiers still time to escape, youve got time to escape
thiers still time so escape,,,,
auuuhhheehhh yaeeahh "

i have to say that this is the PJ song I can most relate to. I have been "in hiding" many times before. When I first listened to/read the lyrics for this song i was thinking, "damn, it's like Ed was reading my mind" or "who let Ed put a video camera recorder in my place". It was actually kinda comforting to know that someone else went thru similar situations. and now i find listening to the song is very therapeutic (sp?) for me.

  • Great guitar opening, then the drums just add
to the crooning. I can relate to these lyrics
as well. This song is epic, as it forces one to
realize that no matter how lost you become,
you are not alone, and there's an important
    reality still. Thanks, PJ!!
  • and although we are not alone; sometimes we are alienated this way, thats how i feel anyway
most of the time i want to be alone, id rather be is this bad?
    why is that hmmmm

"you cant spend your time alone redigesting past regrets no"
"thiers still time to escape, youve got time to escape
    thiers still time so escape,,,,
    auuuhhheehhh yaeeahh "

Don't let me know we're invisible

We could dance, dance, dance thru' the fire
Dance, dance, dance thru' the fire
  • thats a good point, although we face idiots everyday
and no matter how small we feel
    we have the music man
    lol

love this song, yield had some awesome guitar riffs come out from it

im almost 100% positive this song relates to eddie shutting himself in his house and taking drugs for a few days lol. the lyrics suggest it but on many recent live verisons he's thrown in the line 'i was high as hell' in the place of 'i was upside down'

Love this song, can relate to it quite a lot. Sometimes not so much in the physical hiding but mentally, I'm very good at that.

What's funny about this song is that it is pretty upbeat for something about depression / being a hermit.

I think that was he was trying to attempt, even though things seem bad there is always a sunny side.

And yes I can definitely relate to this song as I was off the grid for a little while some time ago, didn't leave the house, lost weight, etc. Went out and got a job and made friends, friends who like Pearl Jam and haven't looked back.
  • Great song... Who can't relate to this song...?
  • love it
agree with what everyone has said, it is definitely a song that everyone can relate to
