Best Version of "Go"?

PJWGIIIPJWGIII Chicago, IL Posts: 811
Putting a playlist together and I need a good live version of Go!

I would prefer something that has the drums and bass intro kind of like the album.

What is the best option guys?

Recent times I would say Rio 2018, Fort Lauderdale 2016 gets an honourable mention. Manchester 2012 is decent too. When the band is really on it, Go sounds superb.
    2012 – Manchester II
2014 – Amsterdam I & II, Gdynia, Leeds, Milton Keynes
    2016 – Wrigley I & II

I like the MSG 1 2016 version. It’s got the the full intro and is a kick ass way to start the show!

    I'll "second" Manchester 2012.

Toronto 2016 has the awesome, album-esque intro, as does MSG 2016.

Other recent versions I've used on my own compilations include San Jose, CR 2011 and Stockholm 2014.

Obviously, there are a tonne of great 1993-2006 versions. Too many to list!

Mexico City night 1 from 2003 is brilliant.

Boise 2000 from TB2K is great and Ed's vocals are wonderfully raw and aggressive.

Milano 2006 is another strong one with great vocals from Ed.

Listen to the one from the Bellingham vault release in May of 2000. Ed forgets the lyrics and sings a bunch of gibberish. How this made it on the official release is beyond me. Hilarious.

Most recent fave is, I agree with above post, ft lauderdale 2016. Opener...house lights stayed on....they start it Vs. opener style but kinda sounded like Why Go....House lights still on....I was somewhat confused and it kinda looked like Eddie was confused as well for a second...then Matt throws both hands down on the toms....lights go out.....BAAHHH BAAAHH BAAAAHHH BAAAHH BAH!!!!!

at least that’s how I remember it

It was a bootleg so not sure what they are meant to do with it.

Well, the point I was making was the band takes off songs on the vault releases (soldier Field had six or seven songs left off it and Dead Man was played at the Bellingham show), so I just see some inconsistency with their choice of leaving a disasterous version of an awesome song on the release while other songs are taken off because it doesn't fit the running time of a CD or LP.

If anyone is looking for great (recent) versions of Animal (follows Go) I highly recommend Pittsburgh 2013.

My choice would be the Dublin(?) 2000 version that was remastered by JWB (I think that was his name) to counteract the Europe 2000 bootleg sound issues. Absolutely amazing vox (one of the most aggressive I think from that tour) and a great outro with Ed singing some Crowded House over the rest of the bands wall of sound and guitar feedback.. great version  B)

Yes, this! That has been my favorite version since I heard it. His bark was strong and the "goodbye" improvs at the end are great with his vocal changes.

+2 on the Dublin 00 version. That whole show has an edgy feel, as well with Ed diving into the crowd during Black. Underrated boot!
