I voted British at first because I was thinking of the 60's and 70's mostly, and they absolutely dominated that period...but they haven't had anything since that comes close to equalling the 90's revolution that wiped away the 80's wankers that were stinking up rock on both sides of the Atlantic. Tough one.
You guys are real good at polishing off third helpings at the Golden Corral, shooting shit, electing presidents, tooth decay and things like that... but you can't anoint yourself the champs of rock 'n roll so easily.
How about a little something called Allman Brothers Band....... Grateful Dead....... maybe some Bobby Dylan.... The Band.... CSNY... CCR were MASSIVE... and on, and on, and on...
Did someone day the 60's & 70's? I can rattle off names of amazing American rock from that period... pop on Woodstock, I think The Who are the only Brits?
Beatles and Zeppelin alone dominate all of America's awesome 60s anda70s output, and that's not even counting Clapton, the Stones, The Who, Queen, and Sabbath.
But then, Radiohead and U2 alone have to try and stand against PJ, Nirvana, AIC, Soundgarden, REM, etc..
Best rock and roll music, America. Tough to argue against Buddy Holly, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Little Richard. Also the blues musicians from America mentored all the British bands in the 1960s and 1970s.
Ick. Classic, sure, but corny as hell. The British bands took the upbeat tempos of the 50's rock and brought the seriousness of blues back into it, and thank god they did!
I can't think of any rock and roll voice that is better than Little Richard (the best) from any English rock band

Freddie Mercury is generally considered to be in the top 3 voices of rock, all time.

Impossible. Mike Patton makes up the entire top 10.

Tough one.
It's close.
(I'm obviously joking above, eh!)
