New Jeff Ament interview on new PJ album, the fact the band won't be doing a No Code / Yield box set and that it's not up to him on whether the band will do a 30th anniversary show.

Seems extremely disappointing... when u2 are turning out albums quicker that’s very disheartening. Plus a single a year before an album release? Can’t Deny Me can’t be on the new album then.

    Pearl Jam XXX...

On one hand, "I'm Analog" was a huge success...
On the other, someone would probably pay $200 for a "PJ XXX" shirt.

Get the feeling jeff and stone are somewhat ashamed to talk about past success. The whole hesitation about even doing PJ20, let alone PJ30. It's a fun thing for the fans, and it feels like PJ just isn't high up on the radar of these guys anymore. 10 show tours every 2 years, new album every 4-6 years now....It just feels sometimes like the band isn't all that jazzed about playing/recording anymore within the context of PJ.

Maybe it's a dry well by now? Not sure. But man, it's just a trickle these days of real PJ news. We can all predict time between albums, tracklisting tempos, citiies/venues they play with scary accuracy.

03 was the last great tour across the states...15  years ago. Damn.

It's an understanding that they have enough money, they're old, they have families and their best days are behind them.

I don't really care when the new album comes out (as long as they spend the right amount of time writing it) - but using a tour as an excuse? Don't tour! Vinyl version takes 3-4 months? Release it 3-4 months after the CD/MP3! Both of those excuses, when you think about it, relate to money - money they'd miss out on touring this summer, and sales they'd miss out on from a lack of vinyl. I do wonder if the real reason is a lack of good songs/ideas, which is the only reasonable excuse. Maybe they should take the pressure off, take a leaf out of NIN's books and put out some EPs, 4-5 tracks at a time, different styles, make it interesting.

Most major artists release the vinyl way after release day. It’s always “vinyl will not ship until after ____”

for people who are bummed i bet they aren't peter gabriel fans. us was released 1992 and up was released 10 years later LOL
after us came out i started touring with PJ...by the time up came out i had probably seen pearl jam 25-30 times  ;)

    this is ALL i need....
Whenever the album does finally surface, Ament predicts something that’s “going to be really good,” as “there’s a lot to be inspired by and a lot to be pissed off about.”

I don't think that's it....both Jeff and Matt have released solo albums recently.  I worry that EV controls the song selection so much that the other guys just don't bring all their stuff to the table.  I hope that's that correct.

Bingo.  So much great music out there that 7 out of 12 good songs on a PJ record every 4-5 years doesn't mean that much anymore.

PJ is simply home cooking to me.  They make me comfortable.  They’re a constant presence.

I don’t expect them to operate like their 30 something selves did.  I know my core group of friends don’t hang out like we did 15 years ago.  Kids/work/geography/more hobbies.  All plays a part. We still get together though to have fun.  That’s where PJ is i like to think.  Im fine with the wait.   We’re lucky they’re still around so i’ll take what i can get.

So Jeff is doing multiple interviews about his new solo album and keeps being ask about a new Pearl Jam record.  He finally acknowledges that the Pearl Jam album is nowhere close to being completed despite releasing a single 2 months  ago.  Personally I believe he said all that so people will stop asking him and the focus can be on his solo work ( I don't blame him and I would do the same).  The album is done with maybe some mixing, artwork and Steve Gleason interviews that need to be completed.  Its  dropping fall of 2018.  MY 2 cents

I think it's mostly Ed. The rest of the guys are consistently involved with various projects and various other musicians. Ed has released 1 new song in 5 years.

It's cool that Ed did Ohana, is playing an epilepsy benefit in Chicago, and is doing the Global Citizen show in South Africa.
And it's cool that Mike is working hard on promoting Thunderpussy, recording with Kim Virant, showing up at ACL festival to play with Brandi Carlisle, playing a benefit show in LA soon, and completed work on the score for "Sadie"
And it's awesome that Stone continues to work on Seattle homeless issues....

But, I suspect we are getting no closer to an album.
