Need expert opinion on poster value

I have what i believe to be a Pearl jam Honolulu poster - I've seen the colored one, but not this blue one. The frame also contains an autograph of Eddie Vedder as well as a small ocean wave sketch he did, both framed and matted in same frame. Looks like I may need to part with this, but I can't seem to find any comparable items to gauge against for value. As this is the forum for the subject matter experts, I was hoping you could give me a general idea as to value. My apologies for the reflection on the pictures!
Thanks in advance for your help!

Is that signature addressed to Bill?
I normally go by Will but could easily change that

That sale was back in 2012.  An orange edition just sold for $145.

I would say this poster, with the framing and autographed card (to the right buyer), should be priced in the neighborhood of $650-$850.  But, you'd probably need to find someone that is OK with the personalized inscription and frame job.  Good luck....it is a shame you'd have to sell something like that.

Is there a story behind how you came to have it?

Actually there is - I worked at a toy company in Malibu,CA and was at lunch with my team at a rathole taco place across PCH on the beach. Truck pulls up and out step Eddie and Laird Hamilton who pass by our outside table and go in. My team, knowing I was a PJ fan urged me to go ask him for an autograph but not my style. Instead I said that whoever got me an autograph would get a day off with pay and one guy Mike jumped up and ran inside. Minutes later Eddie comes out and asks “which one is bill?” When I said I was he gave me the sketch and autograph and told me “make sure he gets the day off” and smiled. He and Laird got back in the forerunner and drove right by the table to leave when eddie shouted “hey bill” and tossed me what turned out to be a zippo lighter with EV on one side and a surfer on the other. He then said “that should be worth a week off” and laughed and left. I still have both items and a pretty good story!

Being able to point at that frame and tell guests "yea.. that's what happened", on top of being constantly reminded of an awesome story.  Hope you keep it but if you end up letting go, real sorry.

Hope you’re able to keep it. To be honest, because it’s personalized I don’t think you’ll get that much for it and you’ll regret selling it for so little. It’s your experience Bill. To sell it to someone else would be meaningless to whoever buys it. If you need some bucks maybe sell the poster and keep the autograph? You can always find the poster again. Good luck Bill.

i'm guessing its the ITW one (surfer pose)
How much does the OP need to offset the poster? I'm in for chipping in a few sheckles if everyone else is to help him with the expenses and allow him to keep said poster

I truly appreciate that, but not something I could accept. I'm not that dire yet, but it's good to plan and see what your options are just in case. I will take a pic of the zippo when I get home tonight to satisfy the curious among you. Thanks again for all the input - much appreciated!

Why wait when you can go online and search for similar? This is the one I have (from what I can remember) or very similar to it

Cool story! And it definitely answers the question of whether or not Eddie knows the value of his lighters.

Looking closely now - (and with the caveat that this is entirely based on memory until I get home) the EV doesn't look right - I think the one I have the "font" is more ...primitive, rougher somehow. Anyway, will definitely double check tonight.

If you must sell though, I'd recommend unframing the whole thing (much easier and cheaper shipping the poster that way) and keeping the real gem - Eddie's signature. Then, auction the poster on eBay for a starting bid of say, $199. You can always relist it at a lower price if it doesn't sell but I bet it does! There are a TON more Pearl Jam/Eddie Vedder fans/collectors on eBay than here, for sure. Good luck to you!

  • Finally...the poster is actually a "version" of a poster that was released in support of CCFA. There are 9 total versions..each of which can be seen here: http://expressobeans.com/public/detail.php/44670 and them hitting the drop down menu in the upper right hand corner. The one you have is the "Art Print Edition". You have #100 out of #150. I have #148 out of #150. Hello to a fellow club member!! ;)

I would not sell what you have unless there was a life in the balance. It is beautifully framed and the note makes it yours...

Fantastic story.  Though you don't need the pieces of things to remember the story, they are just too cool for you to part with.  As a times three member of the Tiki poster club, I'll chip in for you to keep it.

    #72 blue checking in =)

Love how you have the three of those displayed - very cool. And thank you Caught-A-Bolt-Of-Lightning - great information!
To all of you, especially elwayvedder - thank you for the offer, but it won't come to that - I'm a very new member to this site and never would have expected that kind of offer - you are very special people and thank you again for the thought.
