Cannot agree more. Such a powerful song and an amazing ending song for a concert and an album.
I am convinced that this is Ben Harper's favorite PJ song, I have heard him do the song many times. The best is MSG 1998 when he does it in tears.
This song is great for a break-up that I am involved in as well.

    Beautiful song

  • this song sends shivers up my spine

when i heard this with ben harper i actualy cried

its just the words, its the opening part... it was 2 am, it must have been a friday cuz i remember i had to get up in 4 hours, to get home, and then to work. i was laying stil, the room was almost pitch black, there was insence burning by the bed side table, so i could see a glowing shimmer scan the room. i remember singing this song in my head, there was obvious doubt. that was my moment, being trapped by something that werent right.

    this is my sad song

  • After over six years working at a local Adult Contemporary radio station, some head office goons told me they didn't see me fitting with the direction the station was going. This shattered me to my core, as it was a job I loved very much.

Regardless, through my final two weeks at the station, I tried to think of how I would like to "go out".

So, on my last day, at 11:50am, I said my list of goodbyes and thanked those who helped me along the way. Then at 11:55, as my final act as music director/DJ, I dimmed the control room lights, played "Indifference" for the masses, and cried like a little bitch.

For me, this song will forever be a symbol of keeping your head held high, and staying strong through adversity. Whenever the strains of life get me down, I do the same thing I did on my last day of work. The healing power of a brilliant song like Indifference can never be overstated.

  • Very powerful ending to one of PJ's best albums...though I can't seem to pick a favorite. Favorite part of this song however is:

I will hold the candle till it burns up my arm.
Oh, I'll keep taking punches until their will grows tired.
Oh, I will stare the sun down until my eyes go blind.
Hey, I won't change direction and I won't change my mind.
