    Release

And so you see, I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
    I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.

It's a great opener to so many bootlegs though. ;-)

It likely opens more PJ albums than any other song! I dunno...I'm reaching here.

    LAST EXIT!

That snare, than that guitar, than that voice.

Gets me amped up every time.

The other ones are great too. Go, Brain of J, etc.

I would like to mention how unique Release is though! I can't think of a song that ends an album as well as that one does AND starts a show as well as that one does. It's amazing how well it works for both. If there is one PJ song I always come back to, it's that one.

Solid ordering. I'd just move Last Exit up to #2. I really like Sometimes but its greatness lies  in what follows it (Hail Hail).

Nice list.  I would move a few around but that is a really strong list of songs in the Pearl Jam catalog

100%. Sometimes to Hail Hail is one fo the greatest 1 2 punches you can ever get on an album. Great song but what makes it amazing is the transition from that to Hail Hail punching you right in the face. I second moving Last Exit up, it deserves credit!

I really love the opening track on all their albums. Last Exit is my favorite though. Great intro to a fantastic album. Sometimes is also perfect into my favorite record of all time.

The sound of Last Exit is so rocking. Plus, it begins the best opening 5 song run to any of their albums. Next, you get the raw STBC, the funky NFY and then another solid guitar cruncher with Tremor Christ before they finally take the foot off the gas for the beautiful Nothing Man. Hell, even Whipping is pretty solid. I love the lyrics on that magnificent album. Whenever they decide to play this album front to back it's going to be outstanding.
    It's a hopeless situation...
