Can anyone recommed a decent record player. I have been using a "rinky-dink" (one of those all-in-one vintage looking ones) player for a few years and I think it is time to upgrade. I want to get something that I can appreciate but won't go bankrupt on. What do you guys use? Give me details on all components!
Thanks!

Not if you are on a budget and only listen to Pearl Jam records...
If you already have a good receiver and good speakers then the PRO-JECT Debut III has served me well and I would recommend it to anyone who asks. If you do not have a decent receiver and speakers, you should probably start there and add a record player as you go along. No point in getting a crummy record player that doesn't even make the music sound better, which is the point of listening to records as opposed to CDs, MP3s, etc. Depending on the quality of the record player, cartridge, etc., you can actually generate a lesser sound if your record player and the sound system you hook it into is shitty.
this was like getting a shot. I was nervous when it started, but it was rather painless in the end. I got mine at 12:05 central. I woke up at 12:03 central and thought oh crap here we go again. BUt I got one!
The Benaroya LP was gone in about 5 minutes ... this is likely not as limited as people thought.
I thought they released the Benaroya in waves. I distinctly remember purchasing mine around 8.30 or 9.00 EST that day.
Don't remember there being as much hysteria over it as there has been with posters or other limited edition stuff recently. But maybe your memory is better than mine.
Congrats to all the lucky ITW purchasers.

My memory on the Benaroya was that there was a major crash of the site when they went up and they were gone within minutes. Like always, a few resurfaced here and there in the hours after, but the LP was basically sold out in minutes.
wrong, as are half the others with their Benaroya sale info.
Went up at midnight, no crashes, and it was up for 12-14 hours before it sold out. Not gone in minutes, no wave of releases, nothing...it sat there for half a day, and people still had nerve to complain when they didn't get one in that time period.

Well, I have nothing to add to the Benaroya Hall debate (I wasn't spending too much time online about that time).
However, I'm glad I decided to go ahead and buy Into the Wild. And I promise all those concerned that my copy will be lovingly enjoyed on my turntable as soon as it arrives. I don't buy merchandise that won't be used.:)

Thanks for posting this. I thought Benaroya was available for quite some time (compared to recent limited stuff). Hopefully some others will remember this instead of screaming "OMFG it's Benaroya all over again, fuck 10 Club" next time something sells out quick.
Benaroya was even before the days of 10Club tickets selling out in minutes. I think some people are more aware now of having to be there when things go on sale if they really want it, but some still do not do this.
I had to get a laptop from a friend to be able to order at work.....I go tit first try. I was in total shock, I was expecting VIC show paranoia where everything crashes and you just have to guess for the next hour if you got it. Still trying to buy it and it turning you down each time because you did get them, even though it won't confirm it anywhere.
I am happy, sorry to all who did not get the limited version. At least there is a regualr edition unlike Benaroya
I had the score blarring on my speakers as of 5 minutes before sale, it was kind of surreal buying it while it was playing

I got my Benaroya like 3 hours after they went on sale.

Benaroya was up longer. Like half a day or so. I just missed it when I got home from work. This was back when we had dialup at work.
at least these went on sale at noon. Benaroya went on sale @ midnight. I had to set my alarm to get mine.
