PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE. If you come to Sao Paulo for Lolla please read this. YELLOW FEVER ALERT

This is serious.

Please if you come to São Paulo take the vaccine against YELLOW FEVER before you coming! Sorry about my english, but It is extremely important that everyone knows.

Municipal Health recommends to the public of the "Lollapalooza" to take the vaccine against yellow fever.

Guidance for who will attend the event, which will be held in Interlagos, area with recommendation for the vaccine, is to take the dose 10 days in advance.

The Municipal Health Secretariat (SMS) of São Paulo recommends to those who are going to enjoy the Festival Lollapalooza, on March 23rd, 24th and 25th, to take the vaccine against yellow fever with at least 10 days in advance. The event will take place at the Autodromo de Interlagos, in Cidade Dutra, one of the 24 districts with a recommendation for immunization against the disease, which is part of the second phase of the vaccination campaign against yellow fever in the municipality.

For those who do not live in the city of São Paulo, it is important to take the vaccine before the trip, since the time for immunization actually takes place.

This is a real concern, folks. My husband had to go to Brazil a few weeks ago, and he had to scramble to get a yellow fever vaccine before he went. Also note that, in some areas, the vaccine is hard to find. So don't leave this for the last minute.

Also, you need to get the vaccine within a specific time before you go.  I don't remember how early, but you it won't work if you get it a week or so before you go.

I'm a public health nurse and it's true the vaccine is hard to find because there is a shortage right now. I live in NW Colorado and we have to send people 3 hrs away to Denver to get it. So definitely, plan ahead!
