The lineup is amazing, and the hometown finale Detroit show (where my bf is from) is on my birthday! We'll be trying to pick up a pair of tickets tomorrow and really cant wait for this!!

Not to be disparaging the effort to make this happen but I can't picture MC5 without Fred "Sonic" Smith around any longer.

And, whoa! Marcus Durant from Zen Guerilla on vocals?!  I'll have to ask my buddy Andy who was in ZG with Marcus what he thinks of that.  Interesting!

Got my tickets today--$47.50 all in per ticket for floor. Not too shabby at all! Really looking forward to it.

Now where to eat beforehand for a nice birthday dinner....I have a few choices in mind!

The fact that Brother Wayne has said he's not interested in just performing the songs as they were on the record has me really excited at the prospects of where Kim Thayil will take them over the course of the tour. He's one of the most gifted and inventive guitar players of all time I think.

agreed.  I thought it was a strange choice of Kim and Doug Pinnick.

when I think of the MC5, I think of almost punk rock. These two guys and Brendon Canty, I consider almost progressive rock. Ian McKaye would probably spit on me for saying that. 

 I hope they schedule a show somewhere near me.

I haven't got a hope of seeing this tour over in Ireland so I'm just looking forward to the cellphone footage on You Tube, or would I be too optimistic to hope for an official live album of the Detroit show perhaps? One can only hope there'll be some sort of official document from the tour. However, Brendan Canty is as punk rock as it gets for me. He did some great work with Bob Mould about 13 years ago, I believe he drummed on the Body Of Song record, and turned up on the Circle Of Friends DVD as well. All those guys certainly have their punk rock chops.

Got tickets to the Detroit show today.  I had a high school teacher who basically created the concert poster collecting culture named Russ Gibb.  He always used to talk about the days of promoting MC5 shows at the Grande Ballroom.  Can't wait to see brother Wayne Kramer.  Should be a good one.

Ages ago in Seattle there was a MC5/DKT gig where it was surviving MC5 dudes with Kim Thayil and other various Seattle Folk jamming out on MC5 stuff. Mark Arm and Evan Dando were doing vocals.

Wonder if they'll be on the bill for Cal Jam. Their show in LA is the night before Cal Jam, in a smaller seated amphitheatre which doesn't really scream "Kick Out The Jams" to me.

I’ve got a Sox game the same night. Depending on what time they go on stage, I might be able to swing both. If not, it looks like someone will get some Sox tickets.
