Are there openers for Home/Away shows?

did they have openers in the past at Wrigley and Fenway?   Or do they just go on at 7:30 or whatever and play all night?

Be interesting to see how they play it this year.  Night 1 in 2016 was clearly cut short by the curfew.  There were rumors going around prior to each show that they wanted to start early, but people weren't getting to their seats until 7:30 or so.  Wonder if they will make more of a official announcement this time around about when the show starts.

I remember the night 1 rumors about an early acoustic set.  I think that was to get people inside early, after a debacle at McCartney the week prior (the lines were unreal and the start was delayed by like 45 mins if I remember correctly).  Not sure how to solve this... if the actual start time was more clear, people would just show up 5 mins before that expecting to breeze right through.  I think adding an opener does allow for 30-40% of people to enter earlier, and eases the entry gate crush prior to the main act hitting the stage.  And it wouldnt mean that PJ played a shorter set... Just have the opener start at 600pm

Don't know how much you want to read into it, but the word "headlining" keeps being used for the Home shows...  If youre the only band playing, would ya say that?

The Fenway rumors were just that, rumors. There was a guy on Twitter from one of the radio stations (I don't remember who) claiming he had seen the schedule for night 1 and it featured a 6:30 start time and two full sets. That of course didn't happen, but it did happen like two weeks earlier when Dead and Company played Fenway. So the guy's info was from a different show. Plus, the setlists for both nights are out there and neither shows a scratched acoustic set.
