Could it be true that Don't Gimme No Lip is Stone's official response to the whole "Stone was the problem" shtick? :D

dont gimme no lip
dont gimme no lip
dont gimme no
dont gimme no lip
dont gimme no lip
dont gimme no
dont gimme no lip, i've had my fill of it
dont gimme no lip, i've lost my taste for it
dont gimme no lip, you've gotta face this shit
dont gimme no lip
dont gimme no lip
dont gimme no lip
dont gimme no lip
dont gimme no
dont gimme no lip
dont gimme no lip
dont gimme no
dont gimme no lip
dont gimme no lip
dont gimme no
dont gimme no lip, i'm just not having it
dont gimme no lip, stuck on your cigarette
dont gimme no lip, i'm wiping off the spit
dont gimme no lip
dont gimme no lip
it's just a problem
one i'll be solving
it's just a problem
And no one sings me lullabyes
And no one makes me close my eyes
So I throw the windows wide
And call to you across the sky....

  • Ar first I thought that, but than I realized that it probably wasn't I think that there is barely any animosity between the band members and that this song was more of an attack at say ticketmaster, or the fanatics, or something to do with a more general direction. And the Stone being a problem thing was during Yield, and this song was recorded during No Code.

This song really appeals to my children (and me) quite a bit because of the humor.

(DS, I thought the same thing!) :D

No, the comment was made during Yield rehearsals or whatever...in reference to previous problems, possibly Vitalogy/No Code era. So it's a reasonable interpretation. That said, it could be about anything.
"Private Pyle I'm gonna give you three seconds; exactly three-fucking-seconds to wipe that stupid looking grin off your face or I will gouge out your eyeballs and skull-fuck you!"
  • Problems? Stone?? He's so..everything :)

Anyway, I don't like the song...

ya i think of it as a novelty song. i just think stone was having writers block or something so he just came up with this in a tiff in like 30 seconds
“ ahh…. Yaa…. If you trust me at all… if you wanna listen to me at all… which you certainly don’t have to. Speaking from experience I can tell you that things change. You could believe me, you don’t have to. They probably won’t change, unless you make them. The best way to change something around you, something you don’t like, is.. to change yourself. I don’t think you want other people changing you.. I think.. I think.. the only person you want changing you… is yourself. So if you ain’t happy…. If you’re reading magazines about generation x’s and thinking ‘ya im one of them’ well fuck that…. Don’t let anybody tell you who you are. No… No…. No one can tell me who I am. I can tell you who I am but that would be a long story… I can tell you who I am and it wouldn’t fit in a Rolling Stone…. It wouldn’t fit in a video… it wouldn’t… its my life…. Its your life. Youre the only one that knows who you are. I hope you know who you are. If you don’t know who you are, figure it out. Cause you are some body. And Im probably stating the obvious. But I just thought I would do it anyway. So if you fell like you got a piece of duct tape on your mouth, if you feel like you cant speak. Take it off, Speak up. Speak your Mind. Shout it Out. Let ‘em Hear Ya. Shout it out…… YAAA YAAAAA yAAAAAAAAAAA.” Eddie Vedder (Porch ’96 Randle Island 2)
