Question about legacy membership

KC2917KC2917 Posts: 872
Specifically, what exactly does that mean? My profile shows me as a legacy member since 1996, but I know for a fact I joined in late ‘94 (I got the Christmas single so I know I’m not just imaging that, and my number hasn’t changed). It also shows start/end dates throughout the years but it always has my legacy membership starting in 10/96. Did they switch to a new system then or something?

Don't know for sure but maybe that's what legacy membership means . . . that your date in profile is not actual date you joined. Might indicate that because maybe 1996 is when they first kept electronic records of memberships?  This is a total guess on my part, try emailing ten club and asking them.

I think that date is just when they joined the forum maybe? Because those are our forum profiles, not our membership profiles.

    Correct.

To find the exact date you joined the 10C goto My Account > Membership.  Find the oldest line in Payment History.  In that line it shows Start: YYYY-MM-DD.  My start date is 2001-08-15.

Gotcha. I think now though the time you sign up and the time you join the forum are the same. It is for me at least.

Well I was wrong, mine says legacy too and I didn't join till 2000.  I'm beginning to think it just means we're AWESOME members.

Mine says legacy starting 10/1996 but I joined in 94 so it must be something they started doing.
    who knows the relevance

Same boat. Just out of curiosity, what’s your number? We joined around the same time, I’m in the 92’s.

That’s what I did initially. It shows my start date in 10/96 but that isn’t accurate.

At least on mine, Legacy looks like every year I was a member up until they switched to Analog and Digital, then I am Analog every time after that.

Legacy came in to play when numbers were first issued, 99% of the membership numbers were random, perhaps alphabetical when first issued and so if you were a member prior to member you became designated as Legacy when numbers were given. I hope that makes sense and answers the question for you all

Nope. I’ve had a number since I signed up in ‘94. Legacy apparently started in ‘96.

Legacy Pearl Jam Membership ended Jan 1st 2010 when 10club changed the tiers to Analog & Digital Membership.

Payment history over @ https://pearljam.com/ten-club/my-account/membership .. the very first date posted on mine is ..

10club said they haven't kept any records before '97, or '99 when they went digital. Can't remember which year.

My 10club membership started in the Spring of 1996. My very first PJ letter (or 2nd) was the 1996 PJ Tour letter of which shows I wanted to choose from the list. Had a chance to see Pearl Jam in Toronto that year. I missed it cause of University. :(

I think Legacy means the old single one fee option (opposed when they split digital/analog).  My history shows all mine being legacy until I started paying $50

Oct 06, 2011 Pearl Jam ANALOG TENCLUB MEMBERSHIP $50 per Year ($40.00 plus $10.00 shipping) $ 50.00 per year
Oct 06, 2010 Pearl Jam ANALOG TENCLUB MEMBERSHIP $50 per Year ($40.00 plus $10.00 shipping) $ 50.00 per year
Oct 06, 2008 Legacy Pearl Jam Membership (Start: 2008-10-06 End: 2010-10-06) $ 0.00 per year
Oct 06, 2007 Legacy Pearl Jam Membership (Start: 2007-10-06 End: 2008-10-06) $ 0.00 per year
Jan 19, 1998 Legacy Pearl Jam Membership (Start: 1998-01-19 End: 2007-10-06) $ 0.00 per year
Jan 19, 1998 Legacy Pearl Jam Membership (Start: 1998-01-19 End: 2004-10-06) $ 0.00 per year
Jan 19, 1998 Legacy Pearl Jam Membership (Start: 1998-01-19 End: 2003-10-06) $ 0.00 per year
Jan 19, 1998 Legacy Pearl Jam Membership (Start: 1998-01-19 End: 2002-10-05) $ 0.00 per year

  • I have to agree with the original post here, I just went and checked my membership date and it is three years after I sent my first check for $5.00 to the Ten Club but back then the Ten Club was not as sophisticated as it is now but the Ten Club truly ROCKS! For so many years I would renew late and I will never forget the year they told me if I didn't renew on time I would lose my seniority.  I was devastated and never went late again (back when I'd just call them!) lol that seniority got me into the pit sooo many times.  I will be 60 next month and there were already 62,755 Ten Club members before me!  I took my daughter to her first PJ concert and we've always gone together since, she's now 36, she was 13 then!  PJ is my Legacy!!

  • Mine originally says late January, then switches to a couple days later.

I can't remember if I used a few days of a grace period to try to extend the membership or not. Maybe I did.
