Unfortunately, they can. You get a full refund, obviously, but it definitely sucks.  Suppose it's better that it happened now as opposed to a couple days before the show(s).

Thanks. I am not too happy to be honest. Seems like a system that protects the host. Not sure what kind of penalties they will see if any besides a timeout probably for selling those dates for awhile. Just sucks because a couple of days ago I saw a house come up that was closer and cheaper. Will have to be patient now I guess. We are bringing our 3 kids with us and mother in law so we need a big place.

This is why i still use hotels, call me old skool... don't really need hidden cameras in my bathroom either

There are minor penalties for hosts who cancel: https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/990/i-m-a-host--what-penalties-apply-if-i-need-to-cancel-a-reservation

My one bad experience with an Airbnb was when the host left us the wrong key!!! Luckily we found a hotel nearby for only about 10% more expensive and it worked out just fine.

upon further review, I'm in for night 2 at Fenway, snagged a single seat down the left field line. figured I was busier than I thought with the changes at work so I could swing it.
