Passing of My Grandson and the Pearl Jam Community

I would like to take this opportunity to thank this amazing community of Pearl Jam fans.

On December 31, sadly and unexpectedly, my wife and I lost our youngest of 3 grandsons, 7 month old Clayton Edward. Needless to say our lives have felt a little less complete since that morning. This is something we have never dealt with and the pain our daughter is feeling has been equally hard as there is just nothing we can say or do; no way to fix it. Immediately, we were surrounded by so much love and support from friends, family and our local community. So much so, it has been an overwhelming experience.

Where we did not anticipate an outcry of support is from the Pearl Jam community. I found this photo of Clayton in his Pearl Jam onesie and sent it to a friend, who in turn posted it on the Pearl Jam Fan Club Facebook page. Immediately we were getting messages of encouragement and prayers. At some point, the We Go Fund link made its way there that was set up for my daughter, and we have had around $1,000 donated from Pearl Jam fans. Perfect strangers who don't know us felt compelled to help when for all we know we only have this band in common; no words. What an amazing group of people you are!

Just wanna say thanks to anyone who reached out, bless you. It is amazing to see how amazing people can really be. I was going to post the picture of my grandson on here in his PJ onesie but couldn't. So, to baby Clayton....sometimes is seen a strange spot in the sky, a human being that was given to fly....
