"Chinese" - Ten outtake (1991)

Just found this unreleased PJ song called Chinese on YouTube and my mind was blown! The source is a channel called PearlJamOnLine

Why was this song not on Ten or on any of the reissues? It's got a chant style vocal and from what I can tell is not a "fake" recording. Jeff's bass and Mike's solo are very recognizable.

    i first heard it when brendan obrien, i think, debuted it on the pearl jam radio channel.

    Didn't Cameron Crowe play it on the radio channel at one point? Maybe around the time of PJ20?
    I'm sure the version I have has got him talking at the end of it.

    They had so much shit back then. The Outtakes from Ten could have been a career for most bands

    So Ledbetter was not really firmly committed to recording prior to the release of Ten, there were loose arrangement early on but nothing concretely recorded I don't believe until post Ten in late 1991 or 1992.

    Girl and Brother were definitely worked up more, Brother was part of a tape of songs that made it at least to the near finished mix stage for the album.  

    State did not get worked on until post Ten release.  Breath simply was lopped off due to sameness, but ultimately pushed to Singles like State.  Breath though, like Girl and Brother was worked up significantly and like Brother was part of the near final mix for Ten.

    Pearl Jam did no work in the studio for Footsteps.  The song was worked up as Times of Trouble for Temple.  Although it was part of the mamasan tape, the first acknowledgement of the song occurred several months after Ten was released, in May of 1992 on Rockline with just Ed and Stone.

    Alone was in the same boat as Brother and Breath.  There are renditions with Dave Krusen, and a studio recut that was done with Dave A which became a B side of the Go single.
    His eminence has yet to show.
