Cover Songs PJ made their own

It's seems to me PJ has been very sincere (and sometimes humorous) with their choice of cover songs. However, there are a handful of performances that make me feel PJ has done justice to the originals. A few that come to mind for me right now are:

Crown of Thorns
Rocking In the Free World
Crazy Mary

Sometimes a cover song in concert can seem like a "throwaway" or wasted song where you wish a band played something else. PJ seems to always to push the envelope - even with cover songs.

That's a great one. Love this performance with My Morning Jacket.

Sonic Reducer was the first song I thought of.

Of those not yet mentioned, these are some of my favorites:

    Masters of War ('04 - '06)
    Leavin' Here ('96 - '00)
    Bleed For Me ('05)
    Last Kiss ('00)

    It's a hopeless situation...

    Masters of War
Agree on both.  I always thought that when the band tags 'It's OK' on daughter, it is better than the original by Dead Moon

I always say that PJ is the best cover band in the world (in addition to being the best non-cover band in the world) .  And honestly some of my favorite PJ songs to see live are covers.  Masters of War, Crazy Mary, Baba, Patriot.  Always appreciate an I Won't Back Down cover (really hope they play some Tom on this next tour).

When I saw this I remembered the reason why this band became a part of life. Not only for their music but for what they taught me about music. They opened me up to so many bands. They’re fans just like us. The Ramones, Neil Young, The Who, The Buzzcocks, The Clash/Joe Strummer, Social Distortion, Dead Moon, Guided by Voices, the list goes on. They made me dig deeper and discover new bands. I love them, and love them even more for educating me. Thank you for that Pearl jam.

Love how Mike and Stone jump around like crazy men during The Real Me, just like Pete Townshend did back in the day. Jeff's bass tone on that song could rip a few heads off too!

I flew from NY to LA just for the Who tribute show.. First three notes of The Real Me and immediately I knew the band nailed it and would nail it. Trip was worth it just to hear those versions of those songs in person. My favorite "new" band covering my favorite old band. The whole band was great but it was like Ed waited his whole life for this moment. Peak performance.
