European Avocado reissue - remastered or not?

I noticed that while my new vinyl reisues of Binural and Riot Act are supposedly remastered, my Avocado doesn't give the impression of that being the case with that. The US version seems to be. The odd thing about the European Avocado is that it's reissued from J Records and not Sony Legacy like the others?

Could it be that the European reissue is the original 2006 mix while the other reissues and the US Avocado are remixed by Brendan O'Brien and therefore also remastered?

A copyright issue? Strange, since J Records is a Sony franchise, isn't it?

If the European pressing is the Brendan O'Brien remix too, I guess it too must be remastered, but it just doesn't show on the sleeve.

Does anybody know?

    Where did you buy it?

Weird, seems like it is indeed J Records release in Europe vs the US version

Have you listened to it or just judging by what is written on it? You can find the remixed version on Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music, etc for comparison.
I ordered a european version too, but haven't received it yet.

I haven't listened to it yet, or compared it to my US original pressing. ;)

I've really only looked at the different versions on Discogs.

It does say "Mixed by: Brendan O'Brien". It wasn't in 2006, right? So I guess it must be remastered?

  • I think it should be the remixed version.  Brendan didn't mix Avocado in 2006 Adam Kasper did.  So it would be mixed and mastered (pedantically-not remastered).

That’s what I was thinking. If it has been remixed, then yes, it would also be (re)mastered.  Thanks.

Thanks. Yes, but I started to wonder If naybe that didn’t apply to the European version. Seems logical that it does, though.

EU and US reissue cuts are exactly the same.

Starting to look that way. Thanks.
  • yeah, the news letter says "remastered" but that is a misnomer.  It is a new mastering of a new mix.  Binaural is a remaster because they mastered the same mixes again.  Avocado is whole new mix that has been mastered.
