Eliminating distortion from an audience recording

Hey, not sure if this is the right forum, but I recorded a show last May and the bass is way too loud and distorts everything. The little info that I was able to find on google says that there is probably no fixing it, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I can send someone the file if they want to take a look. Thanks for any input!
