GNR at MSG

Went to the GNR show at the Garden tonight.  Great show.  Axel was a little rough at spots but they played for three hours, playing most of Appetite for Destruction.  And Slash was in excellent form. Really enjoyable show.  Pink came out for Patience during the encores.  Also a nice version of Black Hole Sun.

Here are some photos (i was next to the stage so easier to get some nice shots):

This was a great show. Substituted Don't Cry for Patience, which sounded great. I think Slash is the best guitarist i've ever seen, and i've seen everyone.

I came away from their show thinking very similar thoughts.

That stage was so big that my seats were right next to it, but for other acts, the same seats would have been parallel to the 5th row or so

Slash was so good.  He was definitely the highlight for me (I saw them back in the day and he hasnt lost anything).  That guitar solo/jam into Sweet Child of Mine lasted about 12 minutes!

My uncle went to the show and thought it was great. Seen them twice in the last year or so and will continue to go as long as they stay on the road. Fantastic show they are putting on. Never thought I'd get to see Axl, Slash, and Duff on the same stage.

I went last year in Seattle and they played for over 2 hours, but seeing these 3 hour setlists this year.. makes me wish I hasn't been in such a rush.  My biggest complaint last year was that they didn't play anything from lies and only a few from the UYI albums.   Most of Appetite,  a few UYI songs, several covers, and a few chinese democracy songs.

It was a great show but seeing that they're now tossing in a few songs from lies, and more songs from the UYI albums makes me wish I'd gone again this year.

When I go to MSG I always make my way to Stout, and go all the way to the back and eat in that wonderful smaller library bar area. Do that!
