I haven't wanted to try and float
for so long
my feet are planted deep like my oak trees
The light hasn't quite reached my heart's scar
It's still there!
the sudden shake to reality
last night I had a nightmare again
I thought of weary soldiers, come home
(Never to leave the war zone in their dreams)
I was relieved to be in Ohio this morning
Warm in my comfy bed
That nightmare of broken windows
And basement living (in a house which had no basement!)
was startling
my fear of poverty
in this dark space, my Tampa pool was green!
Algae was polluting the water
Someone had thrown stones to break the glass on purpose
Like those vets,
i cant yet trust my sleep!
