I could see the metaphoric referance to the chamber of a gun (black circle) but it also says "see the needle drop it down...oh so gently" unless the needle then becomes (metaphorically) the hammer of a gun. but all in all I think it is about spinning records because of pearl jams' love of vinyl. (ten club x-mas gifts, library of congress visit). Although in the mid 90's there was alot of gun referances in PJ songs ex. the jeremy video, glorified G, "16 gauge buried under my coat" from once. But that is what is great about art.... its open to interpretration.
